Chapter 387

Stephen cursed under his breath, jaw clenched. "That coward."

"So, Tyrone turned down the investment in Lawson & Co.'s project," Vincent said, his voice low and steady.

"Vincent, I don't care what you have to do, just seal the deal. Get Tyrone on board." Stephen's tone was final, brooking no argument. "If you fail, pack your things and get the hell out of Lawson & Co."

"If you want my help with Tyrone, you'll have to give up some control," Vincent replied bluntly. "Hand over my shares, let me take the lead, and I'll guarantee Tyrone invests in us."

Stephen eyed Vincent suspiciously. "Is this your idea of kicking a man when he's down? Trying to outmaneuver your old man?"

"If you think you've got a better option, go ahead, send Mayfield," Vincent shot back with a cold smile. "You're not wrong-I do want what's rightfully mine. Sooner or later, those shares will be mine anyway. You might as well think it over."

With that, Vincent turned on his heel and walked out.

Stephen muttered a string of curses, knowing full well that Vincent was ambitious- give him control now, and he'd be impossible to rein in later. Then again, as long as Vincent's mother was still in Stephen's hands, there was only so much Vincent could do. Still, handing over the shares wasn't something Stephen was ready for.

"Mr. Lawson! Bad news!" his assistant burst into the office, breathless. "You told me to keep an eye on Tyrone-he's met with Clayton from White Corporation recently, and today he went to Evercrest Group to see their CEO."

Now, Stephen's worry was palpable. Tyrone not investing in Lawson & Co. was one thing, but if Evercrest Group managed to win him over, it would be a disaster.

"Go get Vincent! Now!" Stephen snapped, panic rising.

Vincent was summoned back, meeting Stephen's frantic gaze. "What is it?"

"Tyrone went to Evercrest Group! Evercrest Group, Vincent!" Stephen was agitated, practically bouncing in his chair.

These last few years, Evercrest Group had been Lawson & Co.'s fiercest rival, pushing them to the brink The very thought of Evercrest Group crushing them completely was Stephen's worst nightmare.

That was precisely why Stephen was so desperate to secure an alliance with the power behind Tyrone.

If Tyrone could be brought to their side, that power would help Lawson & Co. take on Evercrest Group. Then, once the dust settled, Lawson & Co. would be back at the top of Seaview City's elite.

Stephen understood, but this project had to succeed at all costs. "If I hand over the

shares now, what are your odds?"

"Eighty percent," Vincent said without hesitation.

"You sound pretty sure of yourself," Stephen said, eyeing him.

"I've been talking with Tyrone about this new energy project for a while-even before his accident, we'd mapped out the groundwork. If I'm in charge, Tyrone will put the past behind him. Who wouldn't want their investment to make a

comeback?" Vincent's tone was

persuasive, bordering on cocky.

Stephen mulled it over, then nodded grimly. "Fine. Let me think this through. In the meantime, get in touch with Tyrone. Make sure he doesn't sign anything with

Evercrest Group-not yet."
