Chapter 148 The Clingy Girlfriend âSo what if these dishes are made by Olivia?â Melanie asked naively.
Pressing his lips together, Nathan replied, âHer dishes are no different from poison.â
With a grave expression, Kate stared at Nathan and snarled, âStop criticizing her dishes!â
Embarrassed, Nathan retorted, âYou always criticize her cooking skill as well.â
âI can say that, but you canât!â Kate said in an unreasonable manner.
Afraid that they might fall out and make Melanie feel embarrassed, Olivia quickly stopped them, saying, âAlright, I admit that my cooking skill is horrible, otherwise I wouldnât have sought Kateâs help. How dare you criticize my cooking skill? Youâre no better when it comes to cooking.â
With a smile, Nathan replied, âI can cook a little better.â
Melanie said smilingly, âItâs fine.â With that, she picked up a piece of fried eggplant made by Olivia and commented, âItâs okay. I think itâs quite delicious. Your cooking skill is already much better than mine because I canât cook anything.â
Upon finishing her words, she also picked up a piece of fried garlic rib.
Seeing that, Olivia fell into silence. Since she wants to put on a show, then go ahead.
Realizing that the rib was too hard to chew, Melanie put it back on the plate.
âStop eating that. Letâs try this,â Nathan said as he peeled the skin of a fried shrimp for Melanie. âThis should be okay.â
Cocking her head, Melanie flashed a smile at him. âThanks, Nate.â
Nathan replied lovingly, âCome on, try this.â
The moment Melanie put the shrimp into her mouth, she directly nodded and praised, âOh, this is delicious. I envy those who can cook well.â
Kate was forced to give a response and put on a smile, since Melanieâs words were directed at her.
Like a child, Melanie clung to Nathanâs arm and pouted her lips, saying, âNate, Iâm worried about our future. Both of us canât cook, so what are we going to eat?â
Nathan said lovingly, âDonât worry, I will learn to cook. Thereâs no way Iâll make you starve.â
Staring at Nathan, Oliviaâs expression turned dark. However, she couldnât give him a reminder in public, so she said implicitly, âStop the public display of affection. Donât you know that Kate and I are single?â
Covering her mouth, Melanie giggled. âSorry, weâre used to it.â
âHow long have you guys been together?â Olivia questioned.
Tilting her head, Melanie looked at Nathan and asked, âHow long have we known each other?â
âI think itâs been half a month.â
Shooting him a coquettish look, Melanie looked at her wristwatch and announced, âWeâve been together for thirteen days, three hours, twenty-three minutes, and fifty-seven seconds.â
Delighted, Nathan directly pulled her into his arms. âWow, you do care about our relationship. Youâve even counted it down to the seconds.â
Shrugging, Melanie gazed at Olivia and Kate across the table and said shyly, âNate, stop it. There are other people around.â
Nonchalant, Nathan replied, âThey arenât other people. Theyâre my best friends who are as important as you.â
Feeling a lump in her throat, Kate breathed deeply for a few times to cast away her unease.
âOlivia, are there wines in your house?â
Taking a look at Kate, Olivia knew that the latter was in a bad mood, so she quickly answered, âThere are. I have only one can of beer left, but there are white wines.â
Kate replied, âAlright.â
Rising from the chair, Olivia took out a bottle of white wine from the cabinet and poured it into four glasses.
Looking at Melanie, she asked, âWhy donât you drink beer?â
âOlivia, I really canât drink alcohol one bit.â
With that, Melanie turned to Nathan and pouted her lips.
Understanding what she meant, Nathan replied, âOlivia, stop forcing her. Iâll drink it on her behalf.â
Hearing that, Olivia couldnât help but take a deep breath and replied, âAlright.â
Gazing at Melanie, Kate said, âActually, we all want to drink wine with you. Since you canât drink it, Nathan will take your place.â
