Chapter 214 Just a Normal Child When Olivia reached him, she realized that there was a bruise on his face. âNorth... what happened to your face?â
She was breathless when she asked the question, her face filled with fear.
North brushed her hand that was on his face away. âItâs nothing. Donât worry about it.â
A storm was brewing in Oliviaâs eyes. âDid Anna do that to you?â
North tried to console her, âIt doesnât hurt at all, mommy. Why were you so late? Iâve been waiting for you for a long time.â
Olivia choked immediately upon hearing that. âMy phoneâs out of battery. We only found out that youâre here after checking Eugeneâs phone.
She hugged North tightly as she tried not to cry.
When Olivia hugged him, his shoulders contracted instinctively, but he remained immobile as he was being embraced by her quietly.
Eugene also felt sorry for him. Even though they had given him some fresh clothes to change into, it showed how much of a mess North was at the beginning.
After a long time, he finally retracted his gaze from North and looked at other people in the conference room.
âThank you for saving him!â
Lone Wolf smiled. âDonât worry about it. Itâs our pleasure.â
Then, North held Oliviaâs hands as he brought her over to introduce everyone.
âMommy, this is Lone Wolf, the person in charge of Will-oâ-Wisp Headquarters, and this pretty lady is Peacock. That is Python, and this is Leopard. They are all our core members here.â Then, he pointed at Eugene and Olivia as he introduced them. âThis is my mommy, Olivia, and this is Uncle Eugene, Eugene Nolan.â
Eugene nodded once more. âHeâs still young, so please take good care of him. If you need any help, you can look for me anytime.â
Lone Wolf took a step forward. âDonât worry. Wily Rabbit is very smart. He was able to reach this position all because of his own capabilities.â
Olivia looked at them gratefully. âI really thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. If you guys hadnât arrived in time, I really donât know what the consequences would have been.â
Lone Wolf replied, âDonât mention it. Wily Rabbit is very close to us. He has also helped us out a lot, and we have always treated him like family.â
After exchanging some pleasantries, they finally touched on the main topic.
Olivia asked, âWhereâs Anna? Sheâs the woman who kidnapped North.â
âSheâs in the basement of our headquarters. Do you want to see her? I can bring you there,â Lone Wolf replied.
âSure,â Olivia said.
With that, she looked at Eugene. âStay here with North, Eugene. Iâll be back soon.â
Eugene frowned in worry. âDonât you need me to accompany you?â
A cruel look flitted across Oliviaâs eyes as she said coldly, âItâs fine. I can settle it on my own!â
North reminded her, âMommy, donât use your own hands to attack her. Itâll hurt you!â
Olivia caressed his little head as she mumbled a reply.
Then, Lone Wolf brought her out of the room immediately.
After Olivia had left, Eugene walked to North slowly and bent down. Without another word, he immediately hugged him tightly in his embrace.
Then, he slowly patted Northâs back to comfort him.
North remained immobile. In fact, it was impossible to state that he was not afraid at all. It would only make his mother worry if he said it out loud, and he didnât want others to laugh at him.
After he escaped, he retained his composure so that the rest couldnât tell that he was afraid. As long as he pretended to be brave, no one would know that he was actually terrified.
However, when he was enveloped in Eugeneâs wide arms and shoulders, he couldnât regain his composure anymore.
I canât cry! I canât cry in front of others, and I donât dare to cry!
Right now, he just wanted to be a normal child.
Even though he was afraid, he would not cry out loud.
He merely lowered his head and buried it in Eugeneâs embrace so that no one else could see his face.
After glancing at the both of them in the conference room, Peacock nudged the others. âLetâs go!â
