Chapter 461 Fight Back North responded, âI told her to look for you because you were looking for a girlfriend.â Brian chuckled. âDid you freak out last night? Was that why you went to your motherâs room?â
North stared at him. âAre you jealous because you canât do that? Is that why youâve been trying to talk down to me?â
Brian snorted and refuted, âWhy canât I do that? Of course, I can share a room with my mother!â North looked at him contemptuously. âIsnât it embarrassing for someone as old as you to share a room with his mother?â
Brian responded, âOf course, not. No matter how old I am, Iâll always be my mommyâs son!â
Hearing these exchanges at the dining table, Eugene jumped in, âThat sounds perfect then. You can stay here for one more night to fulfill your filial duty as a son.â
North was delighted to hear that. âGrandma, Uncle Brian wants to stay for a couple more days to spend time with you!â
Brian was rendered speechless by their attacks.
Ellen was in the kitchen when she heard that and she treated it as something serious as she turned to Brian. âReally?â
Not wanting to disappoint her, Brian was left with no choice but to agree. âUh-huh.â
North exchanged a look with Eugene and was delighted to be on the same page as his father.
Whilst at the dining table, Ellen knew that they were about to leave as well as the fact that Lara and Edward would now use Isaac as a catalyst to spark conflict between the brothers.
As such, after they went back, they might have to confront them head-on.
No matter how much she tried, Eugene would never want his grandfather to be the middleman in this conflict. But right now, they desperately wanted to get on with it, so how could Eugene just sit back and watch?
At this point, Ellen could not help but repeat, âEugene, Brian, I still want to repeat the same thing: no matter how many mistakes Edward made, heâs still your father after all. Please donât do anything too disrespectful when you get back.â
Eugene sneered. âHe didnât fulfill his responsibilities as a father. Mom, the fact that you were fortunate enough to survive was not because he turned over a new leaf but how much weâve tried our best to protect you. I donât know where to draw the line, but for one, I know that I have to retaliate for whatever he did to me. An eye for an eye is my way of doing things. Since he did what he did, he should bear the consequences!â
Ellen inhaled deeply and tried to negotiate, âPlease promise me that no matter what you do, you have to spare his life.â
Eugene and Brian were both quiet, appearing to protest in silence.
Ellen could not control her tears from streaming down her face. âI insisted on marrying him, so itâs my greediness that caused everything that you went through. If anyone is to be blamed, it should be me!â
Eugene was not too happy to hear that. âWhat does it have to do with you? Since Edward decided to marry you, he should bear the responsibility. He had an affair with Lara first before plotting everything including your assassination. What he did is truly unforgivable!â
Right now, Ellen was in tears. âYou all came to this world because of himâhe gave you life. Since Iâm fine right now, why do you want to make him pay?â
Eugene no longer wanted to discuss this with his mother. If he did not kill him, he would be allowing him to continue to do evil, wouldnât he?
...
It was already evening when they arrived home, and they were all exhausted and sleepy from the journey. As such, Eugene decided to just order takeout from a restaurant.
After having dinner, North went back to his room to look into what happened before while Eugene lay on the couch, feeling rather tired.
Meanwhile, Olivia asked, âWhatâs going on?â
âNothing. You must be tired from the trip.â As Eugene continued, he pulled her down to sit on the couch with him.
Olivia responded, âIâm okay. Whatâs on your mind?â
Eugene replied, âI think itâs time for me to fight back.â
Olivia asked, âWhat are your plans?â
