She crawled as fast as she could, but her strength kept failing her. Eventually, she managed to get out of bed and approached them inch by inch painstakingly. âHayes, Eugene, please! Please let him go!â
Sirius screeched, âDonât plead to them. This is all your fault. None of this would have happened if you hadnât made that request.â
Azalea said nothing. She did go against her father on a lot of things, but she couldnât let him. get hurt.
Eugene looked at Sirius coldly. âDonât feel sorry for yourself. Iâm not the kind of guy whoâd take anything lying down. No matter what other plans you might have, youâd still end up defeated. Iâm just letting you have a taste of your medicine. If your plan had succeeded, I would have been forced to marry your daughter and work with you to take down my friend. You might think itâs a good plan, but have you ever thought of the possibility I wouldnât work with you?â
âDonât waste your time with him, Eugene. Letâs go.â With that, Hayes walked out of the room with an expressionless face. He then shouted at the armed soldiers working under Sirius, âGet out of my way, or youâll all be charged with treason!â
He was heading outside as he spoke, and his soldiers forced Siriusâ troops back with the firearms in their hands. Eugene kept his gun trained on Siriusâ head, forcing him to move out of the room as well. âEugene...â Azalea called out to him weakly, her voice cracking. âPlease donât hurt my father.â
He shot her a frosty look before saying, âI just want him to come with me. But if your father tries anything stupid, thatâs none of my business anymore.â With that, he took Sirius away.
They came to a deserted lobby, though the live stream was still ongoing, broadcasting the current event to everyone. Azalea was trying her best to crawl her way out. A frown creased Eugeneâs forehead. Wait a minute. I thought Sirius told his men to turn the screen off. Why is it still on?
Sirius saw the screen as well, and his heart sank. This canât be happening. The live stream was still on?! Everything that transpired inside the room has been broadcast, and not to mention everyone has seen it, too. Now, everyone knows itâs my fault that my daughter is ruined, and they even know I tried to kill Eugene but ended up getting my plan turned on me instead. How did this happen?! I told them to turn the live stream off, didnât I? So, why didnât they?
Hayes and Eugene kept threatening Sirius to leave with them. Eventually, they emerged from City Palace. They came to the car, and Eugene turned to Hayes and asked, âWhat about him?â
âTake him away,â Hayes said coldly. He ordered his men to take Sirius and cuff him up before tossing him into the car.
In the meantime, Olivia and Christoff had been hiding in the dark. They watched as Eugene got into Hayesâ car and saw them off before finally coming out of the shadows. Christoff looked at Olivia. âSo, can we leave now?â
She got into their car without saying a word. He asked, âSo, how are you gonna thank me?â Now that Eugene had gotten out of danger, she was in the mood for a little banter. Innocently, she asked, âThank you for what?â
Christoff frowned. âFor taking you here so you could see your boyfriend. Did you forget? Or are you trying to deny it?â
