TWO YEARS OLD
I wakes up in da forest, itâs dark and I canât find Mama or Papa. Iâm scared and I cri cri, callinâ for Mama, but she not here. I donât know where dey gone, and I feel all alone. I hidinâ under a round thing, and itâs strange. I donât know dis place, and I donât like it. The trees look so big, and Iâm so tiny. I wants Mamaâs hugs and Papaâs smile. I donât know why dey not here witâ me. I sniff for dem, but I canât find dem. The forest sounds strange, and I feels little bugs crawling on me. I wanna go home, but I donât know where dat is. I wish Mama and Papa were here to keep me safe. Iâm too little, and I donât know what to do.
EIGHT YEARS OLD
Iâve been living in the woods since I was two years old, and I had to learn how to survive on my own. Itâs been hard, but Iâm strong, and I can take care of myself.
Iâm not entirely human; I can feel it. I have super strength, and I donât get cold easily, even when itâs freezing outside. I can hear things really far away, and my sense of smell is super good too. Sometimes, I think Iâm like a superhero or something, but I donât know what I am exactly.
Right now, Iâm sitting by a big tree, and my leg hurts really bad. I got this big gash from hunting an elk in the forest. I tried to be careful, but it still got me. Iâm trying to clean it, but it hurts so much that I canât help but tear up a little.
I miss my mom and dad so much. I wish they were here with me. They used to take care of me and make sure I was okay. But now, I have to take care of myself. Itâs hard sometimes, and I really wish I wasnât all alone.
I look up at the sky, and the clouds are moving fast. Itâs going to rain soon. I need to find some shelter before it starts pouring. I wish I had someone to talk to, someone to be with me, but itâs just me and the trees.
I try not to think about being alone too much because it makes me sad. I focus on surviving and finding food, but sometimes, I canât help but wonder why Iâm like this. Why do I have these powers, and why Iâm on my own?
I wrap a piece of cloth around my leg to try and stop the bleeding. Itâs not the best bandage, but itâs all I have. Iâll have to be careful when I walk, but I canât stay here for too long.
There are others like me who travel through these mountains; well, theyâre not exactly like me; theyâre human. Iâve watched them closely when they move past, and many times, they leave things behind. I donât get too close in case it turns bad, but when they leave stuff, Iâll end up going through the scraps for whatever I might be able to use, like this piece of cloth I found to wrap around my open wound, pretty handy, Iâd say.
I stand up and start walking again, wincing when I put pressure on my damaged leg. Iâm trying to find a good place to wait out the rain. Maybe Iâll find a cave or a big tree to hide under. I wish I had a friend to go on adventures with, someone who understands me.
But for now, itâs just me, Wolf, the boy whoâs not entirely human, trying to survive in this big, scary world. I donât know where I came from or why Iâm like this, but Iâll keep going and hope that someday, Iâll find out who I am and where I belong.
