"Indeed, it's not cute at all. It just an awful mimic of a fox. Such an entity shouldn't need exist."
Rika, Karua, Lana, and Ester respectively chimed in one after another when we got closer to the location, from where the field boss was in our sight.
Especially Lana and Ester, they're quite harsh in their evaluation. Though it's the unfortunate truth that â¹Electro-Charge Fox⺠appearance was appalling for girls.
I looked at the boss with a bit of pity in my eyes.
The boss has a slim form, with its physique towering two meters, but unlike the cuteness of wild foxes, it looks like a famished carnivorous animal.
Field boss's drooping tongue that scatters the saliva and the haze on its incomprehensible cloudy eyes was a surreal scene to behold. It barely looked like a fox with its body shape, inverted triangle-like face and the six tails. (What in the world is this creature, honestly?)
Anyway, if the girl's camp says it's not a fox, then it's not a fox.
"Let's go, Zephyr. We're not gaining anything by standing here. As planned, I will go ahead and attract its hate."
"Alright. I'm leaving it to you, Rika."

The first one to act in the strategy planned was our tank Rika.
Field boss targets at the beginning of battle are settled randomly, so sending a member first is an efficient way to determine the target.
"Gsh-Gsh!"
Guardian boss's tales, and the fur stands on end at the sudden intruder. The target was completely on her.
"What's with its voice? Not even its voice is cute."
"You're right, Lana-sama. It should learn to let out a cute voice if it wants to mimic a fox's appearance."
Lana and Ester's evaluation dropped even lower.
What a pitiful being you are, â¹Electro Foxâº.
"This one's name is Rika; you shall fall today to activate the teleportation circle, â¹Warrior's Beginningâº!"
Rika slightly distanced herself after gaining the hate. Her positioning was apt. She would be able to dodge or repel the lightning from that position.
"Intimidate squeak"
Electro-Fox turns the tip of its tail towards Rika while slowly stepping forward. It was the sign Electro Fox was going to do a linear range attack «Electro Spark».
It was an attack where the field boss fired six straight electric charges from all of its tails.
"Cheap trick! â¹Repelâº!"
Rika's right hand seemed to be blurred for an instant just when the six lightning attacks were about to land on her, and the next moment I know, she had repelled every single â¹Electro Sparkâº. All it had taken her to deal with that attack was an instant. What terrific skills. That's why I say the warrior category is one heck of a cool job.
"Gsh-Ghs-Gsh!!"
Boss's hate metre was sky high after seeing Rika repel all of its attacks. Great, now it's time for us to make our entry.
"Do it, Lana."
"â¹Blessing of the Guardian Dogâº! â¹Sacred Demon's Blessingâº! â¹Resist Magic!âº"
"Karua, you strike from its left!"
"Hn, going. â¹Gustâº!"
Lana gave the attack, defence and magic resistance buffs, after which Karua dashed to the field boss's left side.
Nothing less from the â¹Star Catâº, she is incredibly fast on her feet.
Karua reached the left flank of â¹Electro-Fox⺠almost instantly using speed up skill â¹Gust⺠and made her move as the twin daggers in her hand glimmered.
"â¹Scale Breakâº!"
"Gyuu!?"
The field boss let out a cry at the sudden surprise attack while it was focusing on Rika.
Amazing. I also moved to its right flank and made another surprise attack.
"â¹Brave Swordâº!"
"Gyaaa!?"
I was able to perform a clean hit when â¹Electro-Foxâºs attention was occupied by Karua on its left flank and Rika at the front.
Karua's â¹Scale Break⺠was a skill that lowers the opponent's defence and this should have sufficiently lowered the â¹Electro-Foxâºâs.
Whoops! â¹Electro-Foxâºs tail swelled up and began to shake. That was a sign it was going to use an AoE attack!
"Retreat, Karua!"
"â¹Escape Dashâº!"
"No time for me to retreat, huh, â¹Guard Rushâº!"
Electro-Fox fired an omni-directional lightning attack no sooner than we had taken our respective countermeasures with skills.
It was an AoE attack, â¹Lightning Swirlâº. The range of this attack was quite large, and I wouldn't have been able to escape in time had I opted for dash. I quickly activated my defence skill and pushed the â¹Firmament Shield⺠in front of me.
"GGyaaaa!"
"Woah, this faint tingling sparkâI've never felt it before!"
I wonder if that's how it felt to be in the electric field, as feedback from the field boss's attack breached my defense and struck me, although I was able to defend my HP. I was baffled by this sensation from the unknown electric-type attack.
Truthfully speaking, it felt nice, like a massage. Damn, isn't an electric shower actually quite fun?
I think I now kind of understand the reason behind the joy a certain pocket monster's main character shows when his partner showers him with lightning.
"Wait, I will heal you quickly, Zephyr! â¹Healing Prayerâº! â¹Light Bladeâº!"
"I'm also beginning. Haaaa, â¹Long Thrustâº!"
"Hn. «Force Sonic»! «Twin Cat's Swipe»!"
"ä¸ä¸â¹Swift Strikeâº!"
"Gyuuu!?"
Lana, Ester, and Karua immediately weaved their attack combos as soon as Electro Fox's lightning swirl attack ended, causing the field boss to cry in agony.
I also slapped my two-hit combo of a Swift Strike after successfully pulling three hits â¹Guard Rushâº!"
"Gyuuyuuu!"
"It is going to do a ranged attack â¹Hexa Blitzâº! Clear the front side."
"Roger!"
"Alright!"
Six lightning stripes squirmed in the ground when Electro Fox slammed its tails on the ground and crawled their way towards Rika.
Rika propped up her twin blades and swiftly swung them at the incoming lightning attack that was heading towards her, tracing the path like a rail track.
"This should work against attacks from the ground, â¹Low Swipeâº!"
Her swift yet simple downward sweep motion was enough to offset the incoming attack, further earning the field boss's hatred.
It was about time for Electro Fox to completely focus on firing its long-range attacks at Rika, who was at a distance from it. This will inevitably give us a safe time frame to make our attacks without needing to worry about their attack.
With â¹Electro-Foxâº's hate metre tilting towards Rika, it was the perfect timing for us to pull our strongest moves.
