HE KNEW IT WASN'T ANY OF HIS business, but when alfie had disappeared to the toilet, her phone buzzed. he'd noticed her smiling at it before she left, and he wondered what it was that could've made her so happy.

javon looked at the phone screen, trying to figure out why his brain was whizzing with all these thoughts. he didn't like alfie like that, at least he didn't think so, but he was jealous. really, really jealous.
he placed the phone back down where it was before alfie left the table, acting as though he hadn't seen a thing. though his chest still hurt, and he felt all weird inside.
it was a few minutes until alfie got back from the toilet. and when she did, she swiped her phone from the table, gesturing to javon to get up. "we're going to be late, jay. we've only got fifteen minutes to get back." she sent him a smile over her shoulder, to which he returned, but in a struggling, weird kind of way.
