Chapter 2 Background
Facing the situation in front of him, Odinâs expression did not change. If it was a few minutes ago, he might have been a bit worried but now he did not even put Leo in his eyes. When Odin had the system again, he felt like being a âplayerâ again.
He once again perceived everyone he met as an NPC. When Leoâs body turned red, Odin raised the brick-like book in his hand and smashed it right before Leoâs punch.
This smash caused Leo to fall to the ground. At the same time, Odin shouted, âI caught the culprit!â
As Odin said that, several black-clothed men immediately arrived. They were wearing a black linen shirt with an odd black glass covering their eyes. On their chest, there was a bronze-colored badge. The badge seemed like a fist grabbing a staff.
When they saw Leo who was knocked down by Odin, they pounced over and pressed onto Leoâs arms and legs.
One of the men observed Leo for a bit and ordered, âItâs him, his body has traces of sacrifice. Bring the injection over and inform the others we have captured Odin Condeves.â
The other men quickly put Leoâs hand behind his back and took out an ancient syringe. A green liquid had been injected into Leoâs body.
As the liquid flowed into Leoâs body, his skin gradually returned to normal and slowed down his struggles.
Looking at this situation, the leader said, âCapture complete, bring him away.â
âWait a moment.â As the men were going to carry Leo away, Odin suddenly called them.
The man looked at Odin and used an arrogant tone to say, âDonât worry, your rewards will be given to you.â
âItâs not that, I am Odin Condeves and heâs Leo. Although I know I will attract some trouble, I had to tell you that you used the wrong name.â As Odin said that, the men released Leo, letting him drop onto the ground, and immediately surrounded Odin.
Facing this situation, it was impossible for Odin to remain calm. But he knew he could not give up on his identity. Or else, he would be black-listed and unable to move around in the White Eagle Republic.
The leader looked at Odin and said in a surprised tone, âYou are Odin Condeves? Thatâs impossible, I saw you sitting here for quite some time. It was different from the evidence we have.â
âWhat evidence does mister have?â
âTen minutes ago, someone reported saying something happened to Dr. Carter. The prophet had divined that fifteen minutes ago you entered Dr. Carterâs laboratory. You had a conflict with Dr. Carter thus killing him. When we arrived and found out Dr. Carter had died. At the same time, some witnesses saw you enter the laboratory fifteen minutes ago and escaped three minutes later.â
âThere are times when the prophet is wrong.â Knowing that a prophet had joined, Odin heaved a sigh of relief. He understood with the involvement of the prophet, the police had to seriously investigate. Since everyone knew, the prophetâs words are unreliable.
The world Odin resided in was based on the United States Westward Expansion from the late-18th to the mid-19th centuries. At the beginning of the game, there were some introductions. At that time, no one was willing to come to the White Eagle Republic as it was full of thieves, con artists, and traitors.
Naturally, there were no priests willing to come. Only some ancient gods who were suppressed by the Radiant God Cult saw an opportunity to develop. They came to this land with these two-bit people.
After centuries of hard work, it finally developed into the current Six Gods Council.
These six gods were the God of Life who controls the birth of all people, the God of Death who controls the death of all people, the God of Wealth who controls the wealth and currency of the republic, the God of Prophecy who controls the politicians and officials, the God of Wisdom who controls the scholars and scientists and the God of Noble who controls the army and police force.
The black-shirted men in front of Odin were official members of the police force under the command of the God of Noble. Their leaderâs profession was one of the extraordinary professions, Soldier, Guard, or Gunman that were under the control of the God of Noble.
The prophet he mentioned was under the command of the God of Prophecy. The God of Prophecy usually focused on the game of politics, and its extraordinary professions were mainly Warlock or Prophet.
The divination from prophets under the God of Prophecy mostly relied on luck. Those Level 1 or 2 existences were never accurate.
It was because of this that Odin dared to say that divination was wrong.
Listening to Odinâs words, the black-shirted man nodded. It was due to this that when they arrived at Carterâs laboratory, they did extensive investigations. It was also due to this that when they saw Odin sit here for quite a while, they did not think Odin was the culprit.
Using the words of the black-shirted man, if the prophet was wrong, going against their word was a better choice.
The black-shirted man glanced at Odin and did not say anything else. He expressed a look of approval and let his subordinates carry the fainted Leo and left.
These men left quite decisively, even Odin was a little surprised.
Odin had thought of various evidence to prove that he was sitting here for a long time. For example, the uncle who was selling snacks was on the opposite side. He started selling in the morning, and Odin had sat here for a long time, he would be the one to know best.
But Odin never thought that those black-shirted men did not ask anything and hastily left while dragging someone.
Their current actions had caused Odin to feel suspicious. There definitely was something he did not know about and that was the reason why the black-shirted men were sure Odin was not the culprit.
Just as Odin wanted to catch up with them and took a look, he discovered they had vanished just as they appeared.
Instead, he found a notice under his eyelids that he barely noticed.
