"I didn't even like one girl from this," Meera pointed at the photos.
Currently, Meera, Rajesh, and Ravi are seated in Meera's bedroom, deep in discussion about Avyaan's marriage. It has been three days since Ishika arrived at the Rathore mansion.
"Maa, we are choosing a queen, not a model. You're rejecting nearly 70 girls just by looking at their faces without considering any details," Rajesh sighed in exasperation.
"Rajesh, I don't need details about anyone. The queen's face itself radiates a glow, a sparkle. When I find that girl, only God knows, but Avyaan will have a wife who is a perfect blend of beauty and brains," Meera explained to her sons.
"Ravi, what's on your mind now?" Rajesh inquired, noticing Ravi lost in thought on the sofa.
"Well, Bhaiya and Maa, what if I tell you I have found that radiance, that sparkle you speak of?" Ravi approached Meera and Rajesh with a sense of excitement.
"Really? Who is she? Tell me," joy lit up Meera's face. "I won't tell you, Maa. I'll show you," Ravi replied, opening his phone and revealing the picture to Meera.
Gazing at the image for a moment, Meera hesitated, then remarked, "She resembles my ideal, but I have some doubts to clarify." Handing the phone back to Ravi, she continued, "Sure, Maa, we can visit their home and speak with her parents." Meera nodded in agreement, deciding, "We'll go tomorrow."
"Bss yrr mahi ab aur nahi hoga mujhse mere haath dard karne lage" I came out of the car as I'm driving from 3 hours continuously.
"Ishuu only one week left, we have to win that race for sure, and practice is important," she explained, sounding just like my mom.
"Nahi naa," I winced. "Achaa, one last round bachaa, phir hum panipuri khane chale jayenge." Panipuri ke liye to jaan bhi haazir hai.
"Heinn sachii," I exclaimed, and she nodded.
I moved back to my driving seat and started driving when a thought popped into my mind, Arre, main to doctor hu, ab mere paas paise bhi hai, is panipuri treat ke liye kaise mangayi, arre Kanha Ji, sirf shareer se hi bada karoge kya, dimag bhi to bhejo.
After practicing, we both headed towards the market to eat panipuri. We were walking on the streets, talking about racing when my eyes caught sight of the jhil mil balloons.
You're not a child anymore, Ishu, grow up, be mature, I reminded myself.
I looked at my side, but Mahi was not there. "Ye lijiye memsaheba," she forwarded two jhil mil balloons to me while smiling.
Ohho Krishna Ji, ab ye aise princess treatment degi, to batao, mein kaise mature banu. Khair, ye process kal se chalu karungi!
I extended my hand to take the balloons, but before I could hold them, they flew away. "Arehhh mere balloon," I ran behind them.
"Aree Ishu, leave it, I will buy you another," she shouted, running behind me. "Nahi Mahi, I want that only," I turned back while running.
Kritchhhhhhhh
As I stood in the middle of the road, the sound of car tires filled the air. All eyes were on me, and I let out an awkward laugh, feeling a bit embarrassed by the attention.
A man emerged from the car that had stopped in front of me. As he approached, I focused on his face more intently. Kahi dekha dekha sa lag ra hai!I thought to myself.
Our eyes locked, and I recognized those piercing blue orbs. "Ohh acha you're that bagad billa na," I exclaimed with joy, realizing who he was. But then it hit me - Ishu ye to king hai, f**k lag gayee!!
He questioned me coldly, "Now who is the problem," his gaze stern. "Ac-actually na my balloons flew away, that's why varna meri to koi galti nahi hai," I explained, picking up the balloons with an awkward laugh.
Before he could respond, I tiptoed close and whispered in his ear, "Mujhe pata chal gaya hai ki tum king ho, I'm not sorry. Vaise phir bhi sorry byy," and with that, I dashed off without looking back, Mahi following closely behind.
Stopping near the Pani puri stall, I let out a sigh, "Ufff, 1 hafte se kismat hi kharab ho rakhi hai." Mahi inquired, "Vaise ishu kaan mein kya bola unke?"
"Leave it Mahi, let's eat na," I replied, and we headed to enjoy some delicious Pani puri before returning home.
"Where are the clients," I stormed into the cabin, questioning my PA.
"Si-sir ac-tually," he stuttered, and I can't stand those who stutter while talking.
"Fast Shekhar," I commanded in an angry tone.
"Sir, actually, you were late 20 minutes, that's why they canceled the meeting," he explained in one line. It's all because of that girl; she's probably a walking troublemaker.
But her eyes were mesmerizing. Ugh, what am I thinking?
"Okay, you go and ask them if they are canceling the deal or just today's meeting," I instructed as he nodded and left.
I tried to focus on work, but my mind kept replaying her words, "you're going to marry, and that's final." I won't marry anyone; it's my final decision. Whichever girl Dadi chooses, I'll make sure she knows not to marry me. I know how to handle those situations.
After a while, there was a knock on the door. "Come in."
"Sir, the clients haven't canceled the deal; they just called off today's meeting. They'll decide on the next meeting date," he reported. I simply nodded in acknowledgment as he left.
It was already 7 pm, my usual time to head home, but I couldn't leave; otherwise, they'd start with the wedding talks again.
After working for another four hours, it was now 11 pm. I decided it was time to leave; everyone must have already fallen asleep by now.
I stepped into the grand mansion and headed towards the stairs, but a familiar voice halted me, "Avyaan, come here." I knew she wouldn't drop the subject so easily.
I paused my steps and approached her, "Yes, Dadi, but why are you still awake? It's late," I questioned as I sat beside her.
"Avyaan, I have found her," she replied, ignoring my question.
"Who, Dadi?" I pretended innocence, though I knew exactly who she meant.
"Your wife and my bindni," she declared. No, Dadi, no one will be my wife. But for my grandmother's sake, I will agree, yet I will make sure the girl refuses, no matter what.
"Hmm," I responded nonchalantly. "See, Avyaan, everyone needs a partner, a soulmate in life. I don't want to pressure you, but you must understand that you will marry sooner or later. There is someone destined for you, no matter how much you resist."
"No one is meant for me!" I thought to myself.
"I have found the perfect girl, beauty with brains, and we are visiting her family tomorrow," Dadi continued.
"Dadi, I have crucial meetings tomorrow," I protested. I didn't want to waste time on this; I needed to finish my pending work.
"I have canceled them," she stated firmly.
"What?" I was taken aback.
"Yes, I have canceled all your important meetings. You are free tomorrow, and you will accompany me. That's final. Now, go and rest. Good night."
I feel ya, man. It's like her attitude is running in your blood now. Gotta deal with it, right? *sigh* Time to bounce.
I let out a sigh, rose from the sofa, and made my way to my room. After a cold shower, I stepped onto the balcony. The night sky was a canvas of darkness adorned with shimmering stars. Night falls for a reason, but no matter how deep the shadows, morning's light always finds a way.
But sometimes, I wonder if my dark life will ever see the light of morning. Nah, Avyaan, you ain't meant for sunlight. I know there's no sunrise in my life; I'm just a mess.
Back in the bedroom, I stood in front of her photo. "Sorry, Maa," the words that escape my lips every time I see her. I seek forgiveness for that unforgivable sin. Sitting on the bed, holding my head, sleep eludes me. My peaceful slumber vanished 22 years ago. I don't deserve a moment of rest.
"Chikuu bache see how many stars are there if you will count them na then you will get your sleep" she pointed towards the window
"Maa they are not standing in a row how should I count them" I pouted and she giggled
"Achaa my krishna close your eyes I will sing a song for you" my head was on her lap
"Maa which one" I blinked my eyes
"My favorite one now close your eyes"
"तà¥à¤® पà¥à¤°à¥à¤® हà¥,
तà¥à¤® पà¥à¤°à¤¤à¤¿ हà¥,
मà¥à¤°à¥ मनमà¥à¤¤ हॠà¤à¤¾à¤¨à¥à¤¹à¤¾,

Hmmm...
"तà¥à¤® पà¥à¤°à¥à¤® हà¥,
तà¥à¤® पà¥à¤°à¤¤à¤¿ हà¥,
तà¥à¤® à¤à¥à¤¤ हॠà¤à¤¾à¤¨à¥à¤¹à¤¾,

A grin crept onto my face as I reminisced about those nights when Maa would croon her favorite tune to lull me to sleep.
"Maa, I miss you. I miss the melody you'd sing just for me." I gazed at her photo, a smile playing on my lips.
