"Akad bakad Bombay bo assi nabbe pur sou...aree yaar pr ye wali bhi achi lag ri hai" here I'm trying to choose a kurti but all are looking good I can't choose one
"Dii darwaza kholo jaldi" rahul knocked on the door.
"Yeah, coming," I swung the door open. "Yeah, what happened?" He panted, clearly out of breath from running miles.
"Di... Rathore... family is here," he managed to say between gasps, but his words were a blur to me.
"Kya bolra hai?" Did I hear correctly? Was he talking about the Rathores?
"Di, Rathore family is here, and they are calling you."
"Heinnn, why are they calling me?" I swallowed hard, recalling the things I had done with the king. Are they here to punish me? Will they kill me?
"But I said sorry to him. "I don't know; you come fast," he said and dashed downstairs.
"Ishuu, ab kya?" I nervously bit my nails, getting dressed in a hurry. In just 10 minutes, I threw on a white kurti set, adorned with small jhumkas. After applying lip balm, I raced downstairs.
Makeup ka time nai tha!!
As I descended the final stair, my steps led me to the sofa area. A lump formed in my throat as I saw the entire Rathore family seated there, including the king.
Sajaa hi deni thi to akele aate, pura khandan kyun utha laya!!
But today, he was looking good in that white shirt. Nai toh humesha vo suit mein rehta tha.
Heinn hum match hore hai white-white ughh ishu serious situation hai!!
I quickly averted my gaze as his eyes met mine, wondering why he looked so shocked. "Ishika, come here, beta," Mumma called me over to sit on the sofa beside the ex-queen. I moved and took a seat.
"Ishika, we are here to talk about something very important," my heart raced as I gulped nervously, "about what?"
"About Avyaan," ughh, I knew they were here to punish me. Kanhaji bachaloo. "We want you to marry Avyaan. We've spoken to your family, and they are ready, but we need your assurance." Shock overwhelmed me - marry him? I glanced at him, sitting on the other side of the ex-queen, his eyes fixed on me.
"Ishika, even if it's a no, say it openly," she reassured, patting my shoulder. I sat there silently, still processing what she had just said. My thoughts were disrupted when Ravi uncle chimed in, "You know, Maa has rejected 70 girls before choosing you, so think properly, beta," teasing me with a smile.
I glanced at my father, who was smiling and giving me a 'go for it look,' then turned to my mother, who echoed the same expression.
What should I do? The ex-queen chose me after rejecting 70 girls - seriously, how can I refuse her? On one side, my parents look happy, but how will I cope with being with him? Maybe things will sort out after marriage.
What should I do, Kanhaji?
"So, Ishika, what's your answer?" the ex-queen inquired, turning to me. I nodded in agreement.
"Aree Sanket, mithai lao bhai, ab to samdhi ban gaye hum!" Ravi uncle exclaimed joyfully, and everyone cheered. The five Rathore siblings embraced me tightly, celebrating, "THE DR. ISHIKA IS GOING to be our bhabhi," Siya cheered.
Amidst the festivities and chatter about the upcoming marriage, my eyes remained fixed on him, noticing his apparent lack of interest in it all.
"Aaiye aaiye, Pandit Ji," Ravi uncle welcomed a man entering the house.
Heinn pandit,ye shaadi ki date bhi fix karke hi jayenge kyaaa!!
"Pandit Ji, these are the kundlis," Mumma handed the kundlis to him. He examined them and then spoke, "There are two muhurats according to the kundli, one is this month and the other is in 8 months. Which one would you all prefer?" Pandit Ji glanced at the ex-queen.
"This month," she promptly replied.
Itni kya jaldi thi bhai!!
"Okay, so engagement in 3 days, followed by mehendi the next day, haldi in the morning, and the wedding in the evening," he announced, and the ex-queen nodded in agreement.
"Are the dates okay, Sakshi?" she asked Mumma.
"Ji, sahi hai," Mumma replied, smiling.
After everything was finalized, they all left, leaving me sighing in relief.
However, I noticed an odd occurrence when Mehek aunty went to hug Mumma, but Mumma rudely denied it. I couldn't understand what was going on between them.
"Ishuu, I'm so happy for you. You're going to have such a nice family," Mumma exclaimed joyfully as she hugged me.
"Chalo, finally ab ye ghar par akele Raj karunga," Rahul settled on the sofa beside me, making all of us giggle.
"Jab jaungi na tab rote mat baithna," I playfully smacked his head.
"Main to nai rounga bhai teri vidaai pr," he said.
"Achaa Ishu, we have to do so much shopping. Call your friends and go take leave from the hospital," Mumma ordered as she moved into the kitchen.
"Mumma--" "No, Ishu, you have to take leave," she interrupted me.
I headed to my room and called Mahi. She picked up after 2 rings, and I excitedly shouted, "Mahiiiii!"
"Yeah, what happened?" she responded calmly.
"I'm getting married!"
"What!" she exclaimed.
"Yes, I am," I replied calmly.
"With whom?" she inquired.
"With the king."
"Wait, I'm coming there."
"Okay."
After 20 minutes, she arrived in my room, and I explained everything to her from our first meeting to today's events.
"Really, Ishu, you're telling me all this now?" she looked at me as if she might devour me in the next second.
"Aree Mahi, I think it was normal, that's why I didn't tell you," I tried to calm her.
"Achaa Ishuu, he's quite handsome, by the way," she teased with a smile.
"Is he?" I asked, realizing I never focused on his face; his blue eyes always caught my attention.
"Achaa, sharm se unki taraf nazre bhi nai uthati ho, uhmm good good," she teased.
"Ughh Mahi, mujhe kabhi kisise sharam nahi aati. Are you forgetting this or Vaise bhi, I don't think he's interested in marrying me," my expressions changed from baddie to saddie.
"Then why did you say yes, Ishu?" her tone held seriousness.
"Mahi, the queen was sitting beside me, asking for a yes after rejecting 70 girls, and even my mumma papa were happy with this alliance. I didn't understand anything. What should I do? So, I said yes. If he says he's not interested in marrying me, I will cancel the wedding straight away," I explained to her.
"Okay, if he didn't say anything then?" she asked.
"Then I will not deny, simply. You know, I believe in arranged marriages. It is best; after marrying, everything gets sorted," I didn't understand if I was convincing her or myself.
"Okay, so let's go shopping. We have to get the best outfit for you as THE Ishika Rajput is going to be Ishika Avyaan Singh Rathore," she announced, standing on the bed. The name gave me goosebumps; it sounded too good.
"Shut up, Mahi, and call your sister too," she nodded and called her sister Nikki with us, and drove to the mall.
After 4 hours of shopping, I bought 3 outfits for engagement, mehendi, and haldi, as the wedding outfit will be sent by the Rathores. It's a ritual to wear the wedding outfit sent by the in-laws.
