The next morning, sunlight streamed through Lumine’s curtains, painting golden patterns across her living room floor. The aftermath of last night’s chaos was still evident—pillows scattered, half-empty snack bags lying around, and a very fainted Venti still face-down on the carpet.

Lumine stretched as she walked into the living room, her sleepy eyes scanning the scene. On the couch, Amber and Ayaka were curled up together under a shared blanket, both fast asleep. Albedo had fallen asleep on an armchair with a book open in his lap, and Kazuha sat by the window, as serene as ever, quietly sipping tea.

On her lap, still nestled like royalty, was Kuni—or rather, Scaramouche in his midnight-fur cat form—his tail flicking lazily as he dozed.

And Aether? He sat stiffly on a chair across the room, arms crossed, glaring at the cat in his sister's lap as if his stare alone could banish him from existence.

“Good morning, everyone,” Lumine said softly, her voice breaking the silence.

Kazuha gave her a gentle nod, raising his teacup in greeting. “Good morning, Lumine.”

Amber stirred awake with a yawn, her hair sticking up in different directions. “Mmm… Did someone order chaos for breakfast?”

Ayaka woke up soon after, adjusting her dress and giving Lumine a small smile. “Morning, Lumine. Did you sleep well?”

Before Lumine could respond, Aether cut in sharply, his eyes still fixed on Scaramouche. “I didn’t sleep. At all. Because that thing was watching me all night.”

Scaramouche, still in cat form, slowly opened one violet eye and let out the sassiest meow imaginable before curling back into Lumine’s lap.

Amber snorted, trying to hold back her laugh. “Aether, are you seriously still mad at him? He’s so… tiny!”

Aether threw his hands in the air. “Tiny? Tiny?! That ‘tiny’ thing almost punched me in the face last night! Do you know how humiliating it is to lose an argument to a cat?!”

Lumine sighed, gently stroking Scaramouche’s fur. “Aether, please… It’s morning. Let’s not start this again.”

Kazuha chuckled softly. “Aether, perhaps you should consider that the more you antagonize him, the more he enjoys it.”

Aether pointed an accusing finger at the cat. “He’s smirking at me right now, isn’t he?”

The cat's tail gave a flick.

Albedo finally stirred from his armchair, closing his book and adjusting his glasses. “Perhaps it’s time for Scaramouche to transform back. Prolonged stress in his current form might not be ideal.”

Lumine glanced down at the cat. “Scara? You ready to turn back?”

The midnight-furred feline stared at her for a long moment before letting out an exaggerated sigh—if cats could sigh—and leapt off her lap. With a faint violet glow, his small form began to shift and elongate until Scaramouche stood before them in his usual human form, hoodie slightly oversized, and his sharp violet eyes narrowed at Aether.

“There. Happy now, golden boy?” Scaramouche said dryly, crossing his arms.

Aether immediately stood up. “Oh, now you wanna talk face-to-face?”

“Aether!” Lumine snapped, standing between them. “Enough! Both of you!”

The two boys froze under her sharp glare. The room went silent, except for Venti groaning weakly from the floor.

“Scaramouche,” Lumine turned to him first, her voice firm but gentle. “You didn’t have to provoke him so much last night.”

Scaramouche looked away with a huff, his hands shoved into his pockets. “…Fine.”

She turned to Aether next. “And you, Aether, stop acting like you’re my personal guard dog. Scaramouche isn’t a threat, okay?”

Aether crossed his arms, mumbling, “He’s still suspicious…”

Amber clapped her hands together, trying to lighten the mood. “Sooo… breakfast, anyone?”

Ayaka nodded eagerly. “I’ll help prepare something.”

As Amber and Ayaka retreated to the kitchen, Albedo followed, probably to prevent any culinary disasters.

Kazuha, still calm, leaned against the windowsill. “You know, for all the chaos last night, it’s nice seeing everyone together like this.”

Lumine sighed, flopping onto the couch. “Honestly… this might be the most exhausting sleepover I’ve ever had.”

Scaramouche sat down beside her, arms still crossed, but the tension in his shoulders had eased slightly.

Aether took the seat across from them, still sulking but clearly trying to calm down.

Venti, finally regaining some sense of consciousness, pushed himself up from the floor and threw an arm over the couch dramatically. “I had the wildest dream… Kuni was Scaramouche, and Aether was threatening to punch him… Oh wait.”

Everyone groaned.

Lumine leaned her head back against the couch, her voice soft. “Next time… no more surprises. Please.”

Scaramouche smirked slightly, his sharp eyes glancing at her. “No promises, princess.”

Aether scowled at him. “Don’t call her that.”

Before another argument could start, Amber’s voice called from the kitchen. “Breakfast is ready!”

The group slowly migrated to the dining area, the tension fading as plates of pancakes, toast, and fruit were passed around.

Kazuha sat beside Lumine, quietly chatting with her, while Amber and Ayaka exchanged playful jokes. Albedo meticulously arranged his plate, and Venti was already stealing bites from everyone’s food.

Scaramouche and Aether sat on opposite ends of the table, occasionally shooting glares at each other but otherwise staying civil—for now.

As Lumine looked around at her friends, a small smile tugged at her lips. Despite the chaos, the tension, and the near-fistfight, there was an undeniable warmth in the air.

It wasn’t perfect, but it was home.
