âBoss.â
âWhat is it?â Dan-Han coldly grumbled into the phone as he tried not to wake up the beauty sleeping in his arms.
âMr Kim is still in the country as you said he would. Heâs currently at the Kimâs old residence. What should we do?â A subordinate asked over the phone.
Dan-Han wasnât surprised over this. He had predicted this would happen and he knew exactly why. Things were probably as he had presumed.
âHave Tae-Ho taken the madam to the family house?â He asked, referring to Ms Soo-min.
âYes.â The man replied.
âIncrease the security around the house.â Dan-Han ordered.
.....
âOkay boss. Should we keep tabs on him too?â
âThereâll be no need for that. He wouldnât be too careless.â Dan-Han thoughtfully said. He could tell Mr Kim wouldnât be sloppy, especially now that he was in his terrain. And if his theory was correct, the man would make a move on the woman, and not on him. Killing her to stop her from recognizing him would be his best approach, atleast that was what heâd do had he been in Mr Kimâs shoes.
âCall me if thereâs anything else.â Dan-Han said and ended the call. He put the phone away and turned to the beauty stretching and yawning in his arms.
âIs it work?â She asked as she stirred up from sleep.
Dan-Han shook his head and leaned down to kiss her lips. âNo.â He smiled at her cute sleepy face. He loved having her wake in his embrace every morning and he wanted this everyday of his life. Having her face as the first thing he sees every morning and the last face he sees before going to bed, was the earnest desire of his heart.
Eun-sun snuggled a bit closer. âThanks for yesterday. It was beautiful.â
âIâm glad you liked it.â
Eun-sun rested her head on his broad chest and clingingly tightened her hold around him. âI hate that it passed so quickly, and I hate to leave.â She pouted.
Dan-Han chuckled amusedly at her cute act, as he hugged her back. âWho said anything about leaving. Letâs stay a bit more.â He told her.
Eun-sun skeptically looked at him. âPresident Lee, are you trying to slack off on my account? We have to get back. Is not the weekend yet, so we still have to go to work.â She told him. They had both skipped work yesterday and she didnât want that to happen again, most especially Dan-Han who definitely had a lot to do at the company. She knew he was a busy man, and having him spend a whole day with her outside the weekend meant alot.
âWork is wherever you are, my love.â Dan-Han tightened his arms around her, almost squeezing her small body with his strong arms. âAnd I donât think I have to work anymore.â
âHmm? Why?â Her brows shot up at him. She wondered what he was all about now.
Dan-Han couldnât help the smile that formed on his face as he glanced at her.
âWell, Iâm currently dating a woman with thick thighs which I want to hug all the days of my life. So, why do I still need to work? I can be a stay home husband, while you care for me.â
âSo you want to leash off me?â Eun-sun tilted a brow at him. She could guess that was what his words meant.
âYou donât want me to?â He asked, while Eun-sun quickly rolled over him and wrapped her hand around his neck. A sweet smile tugging her lips.
âOf course, I want you to. Youâll be my toy boy and Iâll just have to take care of you.â
âToy boy?â He asked while Eun-sun vigorously and smilingly nodded at him.
âYou donât like it?â She inquired.
âI love it.â He hooked his hand around her waist and kissed her collarbone. âIâll just stay home to care for you, and also look pretty for you.â
âYou have it all figured out, my baby boy.â She grinned and kissed him back.
âBaby boy. Thatâs the first time, youâre calling me something sweet.â He sheepishly grinned.
âThatâs not true.â Eun-sun hurriedly rebutted. She could swear she had addressed him with endearing names before.
âItâs true. You havenât called me baby, or darling, or sweetheart, or anything sweet at all.â Dan-Han insisted.
âArenât you being too cheesy this morning?â
âAre you complaining?â He raised a brow at her, while she hurriedly shook her head. Eun-sun trailed her fingers along his face and smiled.
âIâll never complain, Mr Lee. Youâre my one and only.â
âNow whoâs the cheesy one?â He rolled her over, making her lie flat on her back as he loomed over her.
âLetâs not go to work today. I want to stay in bed with you for a while.â He said, but Eun-sun refused by shaking her head.
âNo more bedtime, President Lee. Youâll be late for work, and so will I. I havenât been to work in three days. People will start talking.â She told him.
âThen let them.â He lowered his head and kissed her neck.
âDan-Han.â She pinched his cheeks, and raised his head up. He was being naughty again.
Dan-Han frowned. âYou care about peopleâs opinion too much.â
âI do not.â She refuted. âI care about my career in your company. While you can afford to be late, I canât.â
âSo? What are you trying to say?â He feigned a frown, but Eun-sun ignored him and pushed him off her.
âWe should get ready to leave.â She said, rolling out of the bed and hurrying into the bathroom with Dan-Hanâs eyes keenly following her.
Dan-Han picked up his phone and sent a quick text to Tae-Ho, inquiring if he had made any progress with the investigation about Eun-sunâs birth, but Tae-Hoâs reply was negative.
He knew he had promised to give Tae-Ho some time to work on it, but he slightly getting restless.
There was an unsettling feeling brooding in his heart since last night and he didnât like it. He had no reason why he was feeling uneasy about this, but he knew trouble was looming around and he needed answers as soon as possible.
Soon, Dan-Han and Eun-sun both got ready and left for home to get ready for work. Alex had breakfast packed under Dan-Hanâs instruction which they took to work.
Eun-sun looked at the man by her side, unpacking the food Alex had made for her. She had no interest in eating breakfast but Dan-Han wouldnât hear of it. She wouldnât be wrong if she said the man was still as overbearing as ever. Only having his way with her, but she must also admit that every imposed decision has always been in her favour. He was always looking out for her.
Dan-Hanâs phone suddenly began to ring, but he ignored it. It rang thrice but he ignored all the calls. Her eyes caught a glimpse of the callerâs name. It was Jae-Hyun.
Eun-sun peeked at him, but she said nothing.
âDan-Han?â She softly called, making the man look at her.
âWe-weâve never really talked about your motherâs death. Do..do you want to talk about it?â
âNo.â He firmly replied.
âAre you sure? You can talk to me.â She placed her hand on his and she heard him sigh, deflatedly.
Eun-sun had feared having this conversation with him, as she feared it might remind him of her mistake, but she couldnât help it now even though this wasnât the right time to have that conversation.
He silently glanced at her for a while, before he replied. âIâll be fine.â
âHe will be.â That meant he wasnât. She knew he was properly dealing with his motherâs death. As a matter of fact, he was avoiding dealing with it.
âDan-Han-â Eun-sun took the flask in his hand and shifted closer and pulled him into a hug, resting his head on her shoulders.
âIâm right here for you, okay?â
âI know.â He sighed and inhaled her fresh scent. âI know you are.â Hearing him sound so tough pricked Eun-sun in her heart. From the day his mother had died, she had seen him bury himself with work to avoid coming to terms with her death, and she knew why he was avoiding facing this feelings. Guilt.
Dan-Han has always been taking care of everybody, but the one person he should have truly cared for at her hardest and trying times, he failed to.
She cupped his face and kissed his cheek. âYouâll be fine. Iâll always be here for you to help you cry it out.â She kissed his lips as he stoically nodded. There was a shift in his countenance, and Eun-sun felt it was good. He should come to terms with it and deal with the reality of his motherâs demise one way or another, and she was going to help him do that.
Dan-Han picked up the food from her side and passed it to her. âYou should eat. Weâll be at the office soon.â
âWhat about you?â She asked, when he brought out just one spoon.
âIâll eat later after my first meeting, but I canât let you go around on an empty stomach. I hate it when you have those stomach aches.â
Eun-sun nodded and collected the spoon from him. She also hated all the ulcer pains. They could be excruciating.
Dan-Han had only gotten out of the car with Eun-sun, when they saw Ji-Tae stepping out of his car too. He flashed a smile at them, which Eun-sun thought was still as annoying as ever. As a matter of fact, she thought it got worse with each passing day.
Eun-sun rolled her eyes as he ambled towards them.
âAh! What a great delight to be greeted with the sight of love in the morning.â He smiled, but he was greeted by only glares.
He chuckled as he looked at Eun-sun. âYou glares makes you look more prettier.â He said before turning to Dan-Han. âPresident Lee, youâve indeed picked the right girl.â
Dan-Han ignored him and tried to lead Eun-sun away, but Ji-Tae spoke up again.
âI heard you met with a new potential investor, Mr Kim. Is he interested in doing business with us, or was your meeting about something, personal?â
âYou seem to know a lot, why donât you answer that.â Dan-Han replied him.
âTsk, thatâll be too stressful.â He sighed. âAnyway, I hope you too had enough fun. You can never tell when youâd be able to do that again.â
Dan-Han silently watched him for a while, before pulling Eun-sun away with him.
âYou should be careful about, Ji-Tae. He seems dangerous.â Eun-sun told him. There was something about Ji-Tae that really made her uncomfortable.
âI know.â Dan-Han replied. Ji-Tae seems to have a plan, but what could it be?
