"Excuse me, Miss?" Nettie looked to her right to see a little boy looking up at her and leaning on her table. Nettie's guess was that the kid was four or five.
"Hello, what is it?" Nettie smiled and took a quick glance at Tea, then looked back to the little boy.
"Where are your boyfriends?" He looked back and forth between Tea and Nettie in confusion.
Tea's face sank and turned red. "Listen here you little two-foot-tall bozoâ"
"Tea! Stop." Nettie touched her girlfriend's arm cautiously. "We don't have boyfriends. We are girlfriends. To each other."
The kid put his elbows on the table and smiled. "Oh! That makes sense! Do you kiss a lotâ"
"Lance! Get away from those two!" A woman stepped forward and pulled the little boy to her side. "It's not polite to interrupt people while they're dining." She instructed him. "Now say goodnight and let's go back to our table."
"Goodnight, girlfriend ladies! Nice to meet you, bye! Bye!" The little boy waved to them as he ran back to his booth with his mother.
"I love kids." Nettie said warmly.
"I can't say I feel the same." Tea crossed her arms with a dead expression on her face.
