Loved Me Eileen quickly stopped Bryan from closing the car door. “What happened?” she asked Dalores on the phone.

She knew Emerson was at the same hospital she had just visited, but it was already too late, so she had decided not to go up and visit him.

Dalores’ voice trembled with anxiety, and Eileen was ready to step out of the car to go see her.

Eileen had just put one foot on the ground when Dalores said, “I’m not pregnant. I just had a blood test to confirm that. The doctor knows I want another baby to help save Emerson, so he’s advising me to get an injection to speed up ovulation and boost my chances, but I can’t reach Julio now…”

Eileen retracted her foot and replied, “Dalores, it’s not about whether I can help. Julio’s already questioning your intentions. Even if I could get him to meet you, I can’t make him sleep with you.”

“I know,” Dalores said, her voice thick with tears. “He won’t even pick up my calls. Can you just tell me where he is? I’ll go and find him myself—I have a plan.”

“What plan?” Eileen asked, almost instantly understanding what Dalores meant. “Do you really think you can get pregnant in just one attempt?”

If Dalores made Julio hate her this time, Julio would never want anything to do with her again.

“You’re making things even worse. Continuing like this won’t end well for you,” Eileen said. Unsure how else to convince Dalores, she did her best to warn her.

“He just landed a big contract. He’s probably working nonstop at the Ferguson Group’s branch in Alverton. That’s all I can tell you. Please think carefully before you act,” Eileen said.

After ending the call, Eileen tossed her phone aside and glanced over at Bryan. “Do you think Julio will come after me if he finds out how much I’ve secretly helped Dalores?”

Dalores was really in a tough spot now.

However, in Julio’s eyes, she was contemptible.

With Eileen assisting Dalores in setting Julio up, it would be shocking if Julio didn’t react with anger.

“Julio and Mabel are divorced now. Dalores and Julio are both single. Every adult has to be responsible for what they do, and eventually, Dalores will face the consequences of her actions,” Bryan said, speaking from an outsider’s perspective. “You’ve done all you can as a friend, but it’s best to know when to step back. You really don’t want to get too tangled up in their mess.”

While Eileen had the time to worry about others, Bryan believed she should focus more on her own family—her husband and child.

He kept this thought to himself, though.

Eileen, however, seemed to pick up on his unspoken thought. Yet, she chose to feign ignorance and averted her gaze.
