Chapter 1015:
After ending the call, Dalores gazed at Emerson, who was lying on the bed, her mind lost in contemplation. Emerson had just started learning to speak and was babbling away when, out of the blue, he said, âDad.â The word stunned Dalores. With tears welling up, she gently grabbed Emersonâs arm and asked, âEmerson, do you want your Dad?â
But Emerson, not understanding her, simply grinned and continued playing with his toys.
Dalores bit her lip and thought for a long time. Then, she arranged for a temporary caregiver to look after Emerson. She applied a bit of light makeup and left the hospital. Taking a taxi, she headed to the branch office of the Ferguson Group.
Unable to enter the building, she spoke to the receptionist. âPlease let Julio know that Dalores is here. I have something crucial to discuss with him.â
Noticing the redness around Daloresâ eyes and how her light makeup failed to mask her exhaustion, the receptionist grew concerned, fearing there might be something serious. She promptly called the CEOâs office on the top floor.
Daloresâ words soon reached Julio.
âAlright,â Julio said, lighting a cigarette. He then pulled out his phone and called Eileen, asking, âDid you informâ¦â
âDalores about where I am?â
Eileenâs phone was connected to the carâs Bluetooth, so Bryan also heard Julio. Bryanâs annoyed voice came through in response to Julioâs inquiry, âYou can try to run, but if youâre not running, itâs clear youâre just waiting for her to find you. So, donât pretend to be displeased now.â Julio was at a loss for words.
âFrom now on, handle this on your own. Eileen has her hands full. Only reach out to her if the matter is work-related,â Bryan added, loosening his hold on Eileenâs wrist.

Eileen ended the call and adjusted her long hair. After a brief pause, she remarked, âI actually feel a bit relieved now. I wonât get involved in their mess for now.â It was not suitable for her to get involved because she was an outsider, especially since the matter concerned Julio and Daloresâ relationship.
Julio and Dalores were both very stubborn. If neither of them was willing to compromise, the matter would not be solved.
After the call ended, Julioâs expression darkened. He took a long drag on his cigarette, got up, walked over to the French window, and gazed at the small figure outside. Even though the figure was just a blur from this distance, he knew that it was Dalores.
After what felt like an eternity, he finally called the receptionist. âSend her up.â
While Dalores waited, she felt time slow down. It felt like a giant hand was squeezing her heart tightly. When the receptionist finally told her she could go in, she was momentarily dazed. She sighed in relief, only to feel a wave of nerves take over soon.
She was escorted inside. Once she was shown into the CEOâs office, she noticed the secretary had already prepared coffee for her.
She took a seat across from Julio, her fingers pale with anxiety. Before she could gather her thoughts, Julio spoke up. âIâll give you a chance to come clean. What do you really want?â
Dalores took a deep breath and, with her eyes locked on Julio, said, âI went to great lengths to pursue you before, but now, youâve come all the way to Alverton, chasing me. Why are you asking me what I plan to do?â
