Chapter 1049:
Even though Conroy and Gianna had promised Dottie that they would help her look for her child, ultimately, they hadnât bothered to uphold their promise.
With no one else to turn to, Dottie had been forced to depend solely on her own resources, which had been sadly inadequate.
âTilda was just a newborn at that point. So how could your mother possibly have bothered Keith?â Leyla felt as if a dagger had pierced through her heart as she thought of Dottie, her ever-considerate daughter who had chosen to keep her burdens to herself no matter how much she had suffered.
Eileen placed a comforting hand on Leylaâs shoulder, furrowing her brow as she said, âThere must have been a reason for my mom to act that way.â
Leyla nodded in agreement, resting her head on Eileenâs shoulder. âYes, she was fortunate to have met Keith. I may not understand why they didnât reconcile when she went to see him the night she found out she was pregnant, but heâs certainly worthy of her love.â
Eileen had done her research on Keith when she found out about his connection to her. Not only did Keith excel in managing the Aston familyâs affairs, but he was also a renowned philanthropist in Alverton, having spearheaded numerous charitable initiatives.
As a notable figure in the charity sector, he would also occasionally attend philanthropic events in other cities. He was indeed an excellent man.
Just then, Bryan entered the room carrying Gabriela. âLeyla, Gabrielaâs been crying and asking for you. Sheâs become so used to your attention that Iâm not sure what to do with her.â
âGabriela, come here. Iâll take you to play.â Leylaâs face lit up with a bright smile as she rose from her seat and led Gabriela away.
gⱯlnÏνð®âsï¼cððº, a world of tales A faint frown crossed Eileenâs face, and once Leyla and Gabriela had left, she asked, âWhen did you get back? What do you want to tell me that you canât say in front of my grandmother?â
âI just arrived home. Thereâs a court hearing scheduled for tomorrow morning, and Conroy is currently in custody. Heâs requesting to see you.â
Bryan had a feeling that what Conroy wanted to share with Eileen was of great significance.
âYou want me to go see him?â Eileen asked, narrowing her eyes.
Bryan nodded. âAt worst, weâll have to endure his nonsense for a bit. But perhaps something will shift in our favor at this juncture.â
âOkay, letâs go to the city now,â Eileen replied. After getting changed, Eileen bid farewell to Leyla and hastened to the city with Bryan.
As the clock struck one in the morning, the city streets were deserted, with only a handful of cars scattered about. Neon lights cast a colorful glow into the vehicle, and the cool night air wafted in through the half-opened car window.
Half of Eileenâs face was obscured by her long, flowing hair, which had intertwined with her curly eyelashes as she slept. Then, the car finally stopped.
âEileen?â Bryan tucked her long hair behind her ear.
Eileen woke up. She quickly straightened up and stepped out of the vehicle.
âIf he dares to talk, I will kill him,â she said. Due to her drowsiness, her words didnât sound threatening at all.
