Chapter 1057:
If he had known she had been ready for this, he wouldnât have bothered taking the blame for it.
But the joy radiating from her face quashed any thoughts of this.
Her happiness was worth any price to him.
At the stationâs entrance, a swarm of reporters lay in waitâanother of Eileenâs carefully laid plans. They descended upon Miranda, peppering her with questions about Jaliyahâs fake pregnancy.
The news, still fresh and unreleased, hadnât yet reached the Aston familyâs ears.
As Bryan prepared his self-criticism, Eileenâs phone buzzed with a call from Kamila.
âEileen, youâre a public figure. Wouldnât it be wiser for you to apologize to the Aston family and explain things to the Diaz family?â Kamila said.
âYou make a fair point,â Eileen replied. âI hope youâll eventually deal with this like you said, Mrs. Aston. Letâs discuss this further when we meet later.â
Then, Eileen ended the call, leaving Kamila perplexed.
What did Eileen mean about meeting later? She had no desire to meet Eileen.
At the police station, Miranda spilled everything she knew. Within half an hour, the authorities contacted the Aston family.
Bryan, having finished his self-criticism letter, joined Eileen outside. They leaned against their car, waiting for the Aston familyâs arrival amidst a throng of reporters. Keith and Kamila showed up, but Jaliyah was noticeably absent.
Your imagination begins with gαâηÏνððsï¹Ã§ððº Kamila shot Eileen a stern look before walking into the station with Keith.
Her face fell the moment she laid eyes on Miranda. Less than two minutes later, Keith walked out of the police station, leaving Kamila to handle the mess. After all, she had been in the know about the matter.
Keith paused on the steps, his gaze lingering on Eileen before he approached with a sigh. âI never imagined it would come to this,â Keith admitted. âJaliyahâs impulsive, but sheâs not inherently bad.â
Bryan offered Keith a cigarette. âA fake pregnancy goes beyond impulsive. Itâs malicious.â His tone softened slightly. âMr. Aston, we know youâre not involved. You can distance yourself from this.â
It was clear Keithâs sympathies leaned toward his own family.
âMr. Aston, rest assured, I wonât seek retribution as long as your daughter-in-law doesnât come after me again,â Eileen said calmly, showing no signs of irritation.
âIâll deal with them when we get home,â Keith promised, glancing back at the police station. âTheyâll make a public apology. But could you keep this from escalating further?â
âEscalating?â Bryanâs eyebrow arched. âDid you consider it an escalation when Kamila confronted the Vazquez family, spreading the news everywhere?â
Keith shifted uncomfortably. âI wasnât aware the full extent of it. It spiraled out of my control.â
Eileen considered his words. âIt seems you lack control now as well.â
