Chapter 1070:
The man fell silent. The air grew thick with tension after a long pause.
Eileen thought the voices sounded familiar, but they were too far away for her to recognize who had been speaking. Still, she had a vague idea of what they had been discussing.
One voice was filled with anger, while the other remained indifferent. One sought her death, while the other adamantly refused.
âIf thatâs the case, Iâll take her with me. You couldnât have succeeded without my help!â As the man spoke, Eileen heard footsteps approaching.
A hand grabbed her arm and yanked her off the floor. With her hands bound behind her, her attempts to struggle were futile.
Soon, another hand grabbed her other arm. âYou think you can take her away from me? Youâre asking for trouble!â
A sharp sound echoed; it sounded like a knife being drawn from its sheath.
The grips on Eileenâs arms suddenly loosened. The two people seemed to have started fighting. A painful groan followed, and then the sounds of the fight stopped.
âDonât get ahead of yourself. Youâre no match for me,â an arrogant voice exclaimed. âLeave now!â
Eileen furrowed her brow and turned her head to listen intently to the conversation between the two people. The injured man seemed to realize Eileen was eavesdropping, so he fell silent and walked away. The sound of the car engine slowly faded until it was completely gone. Only then did Eileenâs arm get pulled again. But instead of being thrown down, she was gently seated in a chair.

Eileen gritted her teeth and held her breath, sensing the danger drawing nearer. She believed that if she saw the man, her situation would take a turn for the worse.
The cloth covering Eileenâs eyes was abruptly lifted, and the intense light forced her to shut her eyes tightly. A chuckle came from her side. As Eileenâs eyes adjusted to the light, she finally opened them and saw the manâs face.
âTravis! Why are you here?â Eileenâs initial surprise swiftly gave way to anger, propelling her foot into Travisâs chest with a fierce kick that left him sitting on the floor.
âEileen, Iâm Christos,â Christos said, rubbing his aching butt as he stared at Eileen pitifully.
He almost never used the name âTravis.â To him, it felt like the name created by Brandon and Lydia belonged to a virtual character, not a real human being.
Eileenâs frayed nerves, stretched to their limit over the past two days, finally snapped. She sprang to her feet and attacked Christos again.
Although Christos was still holding the knife, he showed no signs of resistance. He dodged Eileenâs blows and exclaimed, âStop! I didnât want to kidnap you!â
Eileen sneered. âSomeone forced you to kidnap me, right? Youâve held me captive here for two days, yet you have the audacity to claim you never wanted to kidnap me.â
For the past days, she had been living in constant terror.
The most infuriating aspect of it all was Christosâ silence. She could feel the presence of another person, yet that person had never uttered a word! The last two days, filled with nothing but her fear, made it seem like she had been trapped for over a year.
