Chapter 1071:
âGiven what youâve done to my father, donât you think itâs justified for me to kidnap you in return?â Christos shot back.
He rose to his feet, dusting off his clothes, and prepared to sheathe the knife.
With her body angled sideways, Eileen held up her hands and said, âUntie me.â
Christos complied, walking over to Eileen and untying the rope that bound her.
Having been restrained for so long, her wrists were left feeling sore. Even after she was freed, the discomfort lingered.
As she gently rubbed her wrists, Eileen looked around. She was in a clean and neat camper van, and there was an incense stick on a small table, its thin tendril of smoke wafting gently upward.
However, since she had been brought to this camper van, it had remained stationary.
Eileen approached the window and gazed out, taking in the sight of a small forest, with the camper van nestled among dense, moderately sized trees and a vast expanse of prairie visible in the distance.
âWhereâs my phone?â Eileen asked.
Christos chuckled and said, âYou really think Iâd let you have your phone? The one holding you, remember?â
Eileen felt resigned. âThen what do you want? If youâre going to kill me, just get it over with! Iâve been held captive for days already!â
Her family must be out of their minds with worry by now. Bryan must have turned the whole of Alverton upside down.

If I donât do this, Iâll be cut off from home. Iâve been living in this camper van for over six months.â
âLydia? How could a woman who married another man for twenty years for her sonâs sake decide to seek revenge for her husband?â Eileen asked.
âShe believes Iâve ruined your future, rendering twenty years of sacrifices worthless. Seeking revenge for your fatherâs sake must be an excuse,â Eileen settled into the sofa.
âSo, you followed us all the way from Onaland?â Eileen asked.
Christos nodded. âI kept my whereabouts secret, fearing an investigation. It took me over two weeks to drive here from Onaland. At night, I would sleep on the outskirts. Iâve had my gas stolen so many timesâ¦â He continued, nagging as if he expected Eileen to reimburse him for it.
With a low, annoyed huff, Eileen interjected, âSo, whatâs your plan? Take me back to your mother?â
âI canât go back. Bryan has barricaded all the roads leading out of Alverton. Iâm completely trapped,â Christos replied.
âHow do you want to die?â Eileen asked with a serious expression.
Christos stared at her, unable to utter a word.
