Chapter 1089:
A loud sound echoed through the air as Jaliyahâs head snapped to the side from the force of a slap.
The sting of Eileenâs slap was nothing compared to the icy chill that ran down Jaliyahâs spine as she met Eileenâs cold gaze. Jaliyahâs vision blurred, and she stood there, stunned, covering her face with her hand, feeling as though an eternity had passed.
âEileen! How dare you hit her!â Kamila found Jaliyahâs words to be music to her ears. Jaliyah had just said the exact words she had been longing to say for years. However, the slap Eileen had delivered was like a blow to her own pride.
Kamila stepped forward, pulling herself to stand behind Jaliyah. âShe hasnât said anything wrong! You and your mother are the toxic elements that have contaminated our Aston family, making it impossible for us to live in peace!â
âYou should take responsibility for failing to capture your husbandâs heart. Meanwhile, our Vazquez family has always conducted ourselves with dignity and maintained a clear boundary with the Aston family. Now, Mr. Aston and I simply maintain a cordial relationship for the sake of our familiesâ ties. But given your behavior, thereâs no reason to continue that.â After saying that, Eileen called a servant to see the Aston family members out.
With a mix of emotions swirling inside, Keith stepped forward and said, âEileenâ¦â
âMr. Aston, please go back. We are deeply grateful for your assistance to the Vazquez family over the years, but I believe I wonât be able to see you once I move to Onaland. Youâd better put your family first,â Eileen said.
A sense of hollowness settled in Eileenâs chest, likely stemming from her compassion for Dottieâs plight.
gαâηÏνððsï¼Ã§Ð¾m takes you away Keithâs face showed disappointment, but Eileen could only avert her gaze.
Even though Kamila and Jaliyah were reluctant to let this go, Bryanâs presence intimidated them. They didnât have the gall to continue creating a scene.
âWhy are you still standing there? Leave!â Keith ordered. Then, he gave Leyla a brief nod before turning on his heel and walking away.
Jaliyah held Kamilaâs arm and turned to leave.
The absurd situation had thoroughly soured Eileenâs previously good mood. Brows furrowed, she turned to look at Leyla. âItâs a great sacrifice to deal with the Aston family⦠Iâll take full responsibility and explain everything to your mother after I die. She wouldnât blame us for this.â
Leyla dismissed the concern with a wave of her hand. âLetâs head back to Onaland with Jay. Forget about the Aston family. Kamila wonât divorce Keith no matter what, so donât worry about it.â
âIâm fine, Iâm just afraid that you will feel upset,â Eileen said softly, holding onto Leylaâs arm.
Dottie had spent her entire life waiting for Keith, and now she was alone in the Vazquez familyâs cemetery.
Logically, Leyla should hold a grudge against Keith, considering he was the catalyst for Dottieâs lifelong unhappiness. However, despite Keithâs role in Dottieâs pain, Leyla believed he was a good man who deserved Dottieâs love. She simply couldnât bear the thought of her daughterâs long loneliness being meaningless.
The situation between the two families had reached an impasse, leaving Eileen concerned that Leyla would be unhappy. âWhen your mother was alive, I deferred to her judgment on all matters. Now that sheâs gone, your thoughts and opinions take precedence. Besides, I believe youâve done nothing wrong.â
