Chapter 1091:
Panic surged through her. She thrashed wildly, her limbs flailing in a desperate attempt to break free. Her instincts kicked in. She clawed at the manâs wrist with all her might, her nails digging deep enough to draw bloodâ¦
That morning, the gate area of the Vazquez Mansion was buzzing with activity. Leyla had bought a mountain of local products, and the campervan was packed to the brim.
Yet, there were still a few items that hadnât been loaded.
âThis car is a bit too small,â Leyla said, eyeing the remaining bags with concern.
Eileenâs lips twitched in relief. âGrandma, this is a campervan, not a cargo truck! Youâve packed so much that thereâs barely any room left for us!â
Leylaâs eyes softened as she looked at Eileen. âItâs my first trip to Onaland, darling. I need to bring gifts for all your friends and relatives, right? Everyone deserves a little something, and there are so many people we will be visiting. And donât forget, we still need to pack Gabrielaâs things.â
It was clear she wasnât willing to part with anything.
âGrandma, Iâll arrange for someone to send the rest of these items to Onaland. We need to clear out some space in the campervan, or it wonât be comfortable for you,â Eileen said.
Under Eileenâs gentle hint, Bryan attempted to persuade Leyla. âHow much will it cost? I know my own body, and I donât get tired easily. Letâs just get everything loaded!â
Leyla turned and waved at the servants, signaling them to continue loading the items in the campervan.
Eileenâs efforts to persuade Leyla fell flat. Suddenly, the shrill blast of a police siren pierced the air. Several police cars appeared and stopped at the gate of the Vazquez Mansion.

Eileen was taken aback.
Yesterday, she and Leyla had boldly declared that unless a murder occurred, nothing would deter them from leaving. Yet today, a murder had indeed taken place!
âFill me in on the details,â Bryan said, his voice cold as ice, his eyes narrowing.
At noon yesterday, Jaliyah was found dead in her homeâs swimming pool. She drowned despite being a good swimmer. The Diaz family performed an autopsy, which revealed the grim truth. The results, delivered yesterday afternoon, showed distinct pinpricks on the back of her neck. It confirmed that she was forcibly held underwater, leading to her tragic death,â the police officer replied.
Bryanâs frustration was palpable as he snapped, âDo you think we could show up at the Aston familyâs estate out of the blue, kill Jaliyah, and then leave undetected?â
âOf course not!â the police officer replied hastily. âWe went to the Aston familyâs villa to gather evidence and found the true murderer, who was arrested last night.â
Eileen was stunned by the news of Jaliyahâs unexpected death. After composing herself, she asked, âIf the murderer has been caught, why are you here talking to us?â
âThe murderer is a driver for the Aston family. After a thorough overnight interrogation, he confessed that you had ordered him to kill Jaliyah. Apparently, you had a heated argument with Jaliyah at the Vazquez familyâs residence yesterday morning, during which you slapped her after she insulted your mother. As a result, you hired the driver to kill Jaliyah.â The police officer produced a statement and handed it to Eileen.
Before Eileen could get a clear view, Bryan abruptly pushed the officerâs hand away and said in a frosty tone, âYou donât have any evidence, and you are not in a position to take her to the police station. You can only ask her the same questions here, and until my lawyer arrives, we wonât say anything.â
