Chapter 1108:
But what Eileen hadnât anticipated was Julio arriving at the police station ahead of her.
Since Dolores had been hiding from him, Julio had already informed the police to notify him if anything related to Dolores happened. Therefore, as soon as Dolores was taken to the police station, he received the news.
As Eileen spotted Julio at the gate of the police station, she felt a knot form in her stomach.
âHow dare you claim you didnât know where she was?â Julioâs accusatory tone was laced with anger, his eyes blazing with intensity. âWhat was she thinking? What did she do to get herself into this mess?â Upon learning from the police that Dolores was suspected of child trafficking, Julio was furious.
Eileenâs calm demeanor contrasted with Julioâs fury. âNow that youâre here, you can ask her yourself,â she said.
Although Julio was here, Eileen couldnât leave. As soon as she entered the police station and mentioned Doloresâ name, an officer pointed her toward a room.
Eileen and the others approached the room, and before they could enter, they heard Emerson crying. Upon opening the door, they found a group of people attempting to soothe Emerson with a feeding bottle, but his cries only grew louder.
âEmerson!â Eileen called out. As Emerson heard her voice, his tears ceased. He stretched out his tiny arms, reaching for her.
âAre you the babyâs parents?â a police officer asked, cradling Emerson in his arms as he approached Eileen.
Gently taking Emerson from the officer, Eileen comforted him with soothing words and offered him the feeding bottle, which he eagerly accepted, gulping down the milk. Though his tears had stopped, his red, puffy eyes and occasional groans betrayed his distress.
Feel the thrill on gαâηÏνððsâ¤cøm Eileen began to explain, âWeâre not his parents.â She stopped herself from saying more, suddenly remembering Julioâs presence beside her.
âThere must be some mistake. Dolores canât be involved in child trafficking. Please, take me to see her,â Julio urged, his focus solely on clearing Doloresâ name.
As he entered the room, his gaze fell upon the baby, and a peculiar sensation washed over him. He felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity. However, he didnât dwell on it, his mind preoccupied with seeing Dolores.
âDo you know Dolores Sampson? Whatâs your relationship with her?â A police officer came over with a register book.
Within moments of Julio completing the registration, Dolores was brought out. Her eyes darted around frantically until they locked on to Emerson, nestled in Eileenâs arms. She lunged forward, only to be halted by Julioâs firm grip on her wrist.
âDolores, whatâs going on here?â Julioâs voice was laced with concern. âWhere did this child come from?â
A police officer nearby frowned, his voice stern. âYou better get her to talk straight; the childâs family is probably out of their minds with worry.â
Emerson was asleep in Eileenâs arms, unaware of Doloresâ presence.
Bryan, ever thoughtful, draped his jacket over the boyâs small frame as Eileen sought a quiet corner. The pallor and icy hand that betrayed his recent illness caused concern, but Bryan guided Eileen to a chair, offering a reassuring squeeze on her shoulder. âLet Julio handle this. Iâll step out for a bit.â
