Chapter 1121:
The feud wasnât even from Keithâs generation, but his grandfatherâs.
The Aston familyâs enemy had been strengthening its forces at that time. When Keith had required financial assistance, only a handful of individuals had been able to help. However, even those few individuals had succumbed to bribery by the Aston familyâs enemy.
In the end, Keith had had to ask his enemy for help.
Keith continued, âWhen I asked for help, they demanded I kneel before them publicly. I refused. Desperate, I turned to your mother. The Vazquez family had the resources to help, but your mother refused to do that.â
He paused, his lips curling into a bitter smile. âIn the end, I had no choice but to kneel, finally getting the money to save the Aston family.â
Eileen felt her heart tighten. âIs that why youâve worked so hard to take revenge on my mother? You spent thirty years building a reputation as a kind and honorable man, all while hiding your true motives to escape the consequences.â
Keith looked at Eileen for a while. âWhat are you talking about? I have no reason to seek revenge against your mother. She gave me the chance to save the Aston family, even though I had to kneel at that time.â
âBut you despise her for not using the Vazquez familyâs money to help you. You hate that she stood by while you kneeled and were forced to beg your enemies, losing your dignity. That shame has haunted you your entire life,â Eileen said. She had sensed something was wrong with Keith a long time ago.
Keith had seemed more involved in this mess than he let on. He had seemed too clean.
She had even considered telling him that she was his daughter despite the Aston familyâs turmoil because of this.
gαâηÏνððsï¼ð¸ððº brings magic to life He narrowed his eyes. âThen tell me⦠Why didnât your mother help me? Why didnât she stop me from being humiliated?â
âBecause you were the real gambler, Keith! You put the Aston family in that position. My mother wanted to teach you a lesson. And she was right! That shame made you quit, but it also twisted you. You deserved her love!â Eileen said.
Keithâs calm facade shattered. He threw the shovel to the ground, anger flaring in his eyes. âHow could she love me? She could have saved me, but she chose to watch me suffer and be humiliated. Is that what you call love?â
âYou wouldnât have learned a lesson otherwise,â Eileen shot back. âThe fact that you knelt before your enemies was hidden from the world. No one knew it except for the people present at that time.â
Eileen seethed with bitter disappointment as she exclaimed, âMy mother blocked the news of you kneeling, and even I couldnât find out about it until now!â
Eileen and Bryan harbored doubts about Keith. They knew it was often the one who kept their hands too clean who harbored the dirtiest secrets.
Yet, despite her suspicions, Eileen couldnât wrap her head around what could have driven Keith to do something so sinister.
âHow could Dottie just assume Iâd never quit gambling without even giving me a chance?â Keithâs voice trembled with a mix of anger and desperation. The veins on his forehead pulsed. âI was tricked into that casino the first time! Donât paint her as a saintâshe never loved me!â
Eileenâs lips twisted into a bitter smile, laced with irony and sorrow. âIf she didnât love you, why would she have gone to such lengths to cover up your gambling and the humiliation of you begging on your knees? She even gave birth to me after you two split up.â
