Chapter 366:
Eileen knew this wasnât the best time, given the business lunch later. However, with Julio coming by many times lately, she felt she couldnât wait any longer, especially after noticing Daloresâ emotional fluctuations.
âIs that true?â Dalores asked, her eyes red and glistening with unshed tears. âYouâve only known him for a short while. How can you understand him so well? He used to treat me with so much kindness.â
Eileen placed the card gently on the center console between them. âThatâs true. I havenât known him as long as you have. But let me tell you something: a personâs true character often comes to light in their darkest hours. He was the eldest son of the Freguson family, leading a life of comfort and ease. He was kind and gentle in those days, but only because he hadnât faced any real hardships.â
She had the impression that after Julio was ousted from the Freguson family, he seemed to be slowly regaining his strength, buoyed by Daloresâ presence. However, beneath his calm exterior, Julio was silently plotting his revenge. He was determined to get what he wanted, no matter the cost.
âI donât believe it,â Dalores muttered, her frustration boiling over. Whenever she was upset, she couldnât help but lash out with harsh words in front of Julio.
However, she couldnât help but indulge in a daydream. âMr. Dawson is as cold as ice, impervious to emotions. But after all the trials and tribulations, doesnât he, too, place some value on feelings?â
Eileen and Bryan kept in touch over the phone, never shying away from conversations with Dalores around. Because of this, Dalores knew that Bryan and Eileen were back together and that Bryan had been in a car accident because of Eileen.
âBryan might appear ruthless and resolute on the surface, but deep down, he remains unchanged when he loves someone. Julio, on the other hand, is nothing like him. Donât try to compare him to anyone else. People are different.â

Dalores quickly lifted her head, brushed away her tears, and spoke in a choked voice. âMs. Curtis, I canât take the card. Even if I leave, I canât accept his money. Iâve already used too much of his money. Please let him know Iâll pay him back once I can save enough. Whether I stay or go is my decision.â
âJust take the card. You can discuss things with him later if you need to,â Eileen replied, unwilling to become entangled in their matters. âYou should head back now. Mr. Nash is attending the business lunch with me.â
As soon as Eileen stepped out of the car and shut the door, she spotted Benjamin standing by the entrance of the restaurant. Seeing her approach, Benjamin quickly snubbed out his cigarette and slipped his hand out of his pocket. âNo need to rush. Mr. Quinn and the others havenât shown up yet.â
âAlright. When did you pick up smoking?â Eileen didnât remember ever seeing him smoke.
