Chapter 466:
âAnd what exactly are you trying to keep safe?â Eileen countered. âYou know the truth better than anyone.â She could tell he wasnât planning to soften his stance.
After a brief pause, she continued, âIâve passed along the message. How you handle this is your decision.â
Ending the call, Eileen was about to hand the phone back to Dalores but stopped herself. âIâll have Benjamin get you a new phone later,â she said.
It was clear that the security of this number was compromised. Any attempt to track Dalores using advanced technology would reveal her location.
Dalores felt a wave of anxiety at Eileenâs words. âIs it really that serious?â she asked. âI should never have involved you in this. Your safety should be my priority.â
âIf you ever find yourself in trouble and canât get a hold of Julio, you can always reach out to me,â Eileen said, quickly writing down a new contact number on a piece of paper.
Dalores had previously only used Eileenâs office number, but this was her personal number.
Daloresâ lips tightened as she processed the new information. âThank you, Ms. Curtis,â she said.
The café was bathed in the warm glow of the autumn sun, with leaves fluttering down from the towering trees outside.
Zola had been waiting for half an hour when her anticipated guest finally arrived.
Bryan approached, dressed casually with a cap on, his hands tucked into his pockets. He settled into the seat across from Zola, easing back into the sofa.
âSo, tell me, who is Travisâ biological father?â he asked.
âYou donât beat around the bush, do you?â Zola remarked, her voice laced with irritation. âIf Iâm willing to share this with you, it means Iâm on your side.â
âIâm not here to listen to your nonsense,â Bryan said, his patience wearing thin. Yet, he believed Zola truly knew the identity of Travisâ biological father, which was why he had agreed to meet.
Zola fell silent. Those two had grilled her about Bryan and Eileen before, demanding she report on their every move. The truth was, Zola wasnât entirely certain of the details regarding Travisâ fatherâs identity, but she had some idea.
What she was sure about, however, was the motivation behind the actions of those two people.
âLetâs make a deal.â Gripping the tablecloth tightly, Zola spoke with conviction. âEven though Eileen is the General Manager of the Freguson Group, she wonât be of any help to you. Going up against Travisâ biological father alone is a losing fight. What if you and I teamed up?â
âWhat do you want from me?â Bryan asked, already wary of Zolaâs self-serving nature.
âLeave Eileen and marry me,â Zola declared.
