Chapter 470:
But Bryanâs dream wasnât about Eileen leavingâit was the fear of her disappearing without a trace.
That kind of disappearance⦠It might not be something within Eileenâs power to prevent.
The unspoken fears clogged Bryanâs throat.
Eileen said, âLetâs not talk of running away. Even if I die, Iâll find you in heaven somedayââ
Her words pierced Bryanâs heart, prompting a sharp intake of breath. He pressed his lips to hers, silencing her words.
His kiss was so intense it left her breathless, her cheeks flushing a vivid red, her mind spinning.
When Bryan finally pulled away, he warned, âDonât ever say that again.â
âOkay,â Eileen responded, taking in a deep breath. Yet she couldnât help but add, âLetâs make a pact then. No one leaves. And if one of us does, they⦠Theyâll become a puppy.â
Bryanâs laugh broke through his somber mood. Eileenâs attempt to lighten the atmosphere had worked.
He extended his pinky, linking it with hers. âDeal. The one who leaves is a puppy and must bark when we see each other again.â
âI can do a good dog impression,â Eileen said seriously.
Bryan snorted and replied, âReally? Everyone can bark.â
âBut my bark is unique,â Eileen said with confidence.
His curiosity piqued, Bryan raised an eyebrow. âOh? Letâs hear it then.â

âWhat?â Bryan furrowed his brows.
âWhat?â Eileen mimicked him.
The next second, Bryanâs hand slid beneath Eileenâs shirt, grazing her ticklish belly. She squirmed, giggling uncontrollably.
He continued his playful torment until tears pooled in her eyes, and she begged him to stop. Bryan, however, didnât relent.
âAhhââ
Their playful noise roused Gabriela, who propped herself up, rubbing her eyes. She gazed at them and let out a series of sounds.
Eileen quickly shoved Bryan aside, and they both sat up to face Gabriela.
âHee heeâ¦â Gabrielaâs light-hearted giggle caught Eileen off guard, tugging at her emotions and making her heart melt.
As evening fell, Bailee and Huey arrived at their planned dinner spot.
Huey parked the car, pocketed the keys, and led Bailee inside, holding her hand.
