Chapter 471:
As Huey stepped out of the car, a girl clad in hip-hop attire with dreadlocks called out, âHuââ
She stopped mid-sentence, eyes narrowing as she observed Huey holding Baileeâs hand. She trailed them into the restaurant, keeping a curious eye on the couple.
âWait for me in the next room, and please donât wander. Iâll wrap up this dinner quickly, and then you can join. Weâll have a proper talk with my mom,â Huey said to Bailee.
They had arrived early. Huey had secured a private room right next to the one Winona had reserved.
Leading Bailee inside, Huey left the door slightly open.
âYouâve made so many promises, I know. Iâm not going anywhere,â Bailee said, shaking her head at Hueyâs constant reassurances.
âI just worry that youâll leave.â Huey handed her a cup of steaming water and glanced at his watch. âItâs nearly time. Iâll head to the next room first, so they donât spot us together.â
âGo ahead,â Bailee replied.
Ever since they had planned this evening, Huey had been worried that Bailee might be mistreated by Winona.
He kept assuring Bailee that he would handle things with Winona, urging her not to take any harsh words to heart. He had promised her that he would always love her.
These endless assurances had Baileeâs ears buzzing, yet she had to admit her anger had eased somewhat.
Huey then stood up, gently closing the door behind him as he moved to the room next door.
Looking up, his eyes met those of the girl with dreadlocks.

Jillian nodded. âYes. Didnât you see my pictures?â
Jillian had immediately recognized Huey from the recent photos she had seen.
Although Winona had sent Jillianâs photos to Huey, Huey hadnât bothered to look at them.
Nonetheless, he politely replied, âYes, I did see them, but itâs always good to be sure.â
He then chose a seat as far from Jillian as possible.
Suddenly, Jillian suggested, âMy parents should be downstairs by now. We should go down and meet them, just to be polite.â
âOkay,â Huey agreed, his expression stern as he reluctantly followed Jillian downstairs.
However, when they reached the entrance to the restaurant, there was no sign of anyone. Jillianâs brow furrowed as she said, âWhy arenât they here yet? Let me call my dad. Why donât you check in with your parents, too?â
Huey, who wasnât looking forward to the meeting, was indifferent about when their parents would arrive.
