Chapter 481:
Jillian clearly wanted Bailee to take the money and sign the divorce agreement, leaving Huey for good. Bailee had never imagined her marriage would end with a financial offer.
She reached for her phone to call Huey, but his phone was still turned off.
Standing up, Bailee said firmly, âIâm sorry, but I wonât sign anything. If Huey wants a divorce, he needs to speak to me himself.â
Under Jillianâs shocked gaze, Bailee turned and walked away.
After some time, Jillian left the educational center and headed back to her car. Once inside, she immediately dialed her motherâs number.
âMom, howâs Hueyâs mom holding up?â Jillian asked.
âHer outburst last night caused a cerebral hemorrhage. Sheâs in the ICU now, still unconscious. Your father has been by Hueyâs fatherâs side, comforting him,â Jillianâs mother explained with a heavy heart. âI was under the impression that his son, being in the gaming industry, might be a bit unruly. Yet, he rushed to the hospital the moment he heard about his motherâs condition and hasnât left her bedsideâa truly devoted son.â
Shortly after Jillian had said goodbye to Huey, a call from her mother had come. Winona had fainted in the car as soon as she learned about the change in their meeting location, suspecting something was wrong with Huey.
Upon arriving at the hospital with her mother, Jillian found Huey there, clutching his broken phone. The doctors were unsure how long Winona would remain unconscious. Judging by Hueyâs expression, Jillian sensed he would stay by his motherâs side until she regained consciousness.
âItâs unfortunate timing. We really should discuss your situation thoroughly,â Jillianâs mother said with a sigh.
Jillian smiled and replied, âDonât worry. If Huey and I are meant to be, itâll happen naturally.â
After chatting a bit more, they ended the call.

Suddenly, his head drooped, and he slumped to the floor in an awkward heap. He jolted awake, taking a moment to gather his bearings. Instinctively reaching for his phone, he suddenly remembered it was still off.
Morning had already arrived, and Bailee would be awake now. Huey knew he needed to update Bailee about his motherâs critical condition.
Spotting a nurse, Huey charmed her into lending him her phone for a quick call to Bailee.
Before the phone had a chance to ring more than a couple of times, it was abruptly disconnected.
âDo you want to try again?â the nurse asked, her voice tinged with concern. âI need to check on my patients now.â
