Chapter 483:
âItâs about Brandon,â Christos said, looking hopefully at Eileen.
However, Eileen had little interest in delving into Brandonâs secrets. âI was only interested in the information about Mr. Wright and Mr. Watts. You donât have to share more if you donât want to.â
âOh, come on!â Christos became visibly anxious and pulled a wrinkled piece of paper from his pocket. It was a medical report from the hospital, confirming that Brandon had undergone an amputation due to a car accident.
âThisââ Eileen was at a loss for words.
âLooks like you didnât know Brandonâs big secret,â Christos said, tapping his forehead. âGiven that youâre his daughter-in-law, itâs surprising you didnât know. Only a few people closely connected to the Dawson family are aware, and they keep quiet about it. Most people have no idea.â Eileen was among those who had no clue.
Christos, unable to hide his sense of superiority, continued, âEver wonder why Brandon and the previous Apex Group CEO had such a huge fallout?â
Eileen was taken aback by his seemingly all-knowing attitude. âDoes Travis really share everything with you?â
âAbsolutely. Weâre close friends. We share everything,â Christos replied confidently.
Eileen was about to leave with the documents, but his demeanor made her hesitate. âAlright, tell me then. What else do you know?â
Christos rolled up his sleeves, prepared to start from the beginning. âItâs all about the Dawson familyâs wealth. Brandon was known for his affairs, and his wife discovered that one of them had resulted in a pregnancy. Before he could deal with it, he had the car accident I mentioned.â
Christosâ accent made the story sound almost comical. âBut thatâs not the main issue.
The real problem is that the mistress disappeared, and Brandon suspects his wife played a part in that.

What truly troubled Brandon, however, wasnât just his son inheriting the wealth or his mistressâ disappearance. It was the fact that he was no longer a complete man. If this became public knowledge, it would make him a target for mockery.
During his recovery, he had been consumed by bitterness. As a result, he had chosen not to rescue Bryanâs mother, instead leaving the inheritance to Travis, someone who wasnât even related to him by blood, rather than Bryan. This was his way of expressing his resentment.
Eileen felt a twinge of sympathy for Brandon but also recognized that those deserving of pity often had their own despicable sides. However, if the accident had truly been just thatâan accidentâthen what had really happened to Brandonâs pregnant mistress? If it hadnât been Bryanâs mother who had done something to Brandonâs mistress, could this have been a deliberate plot? A scheme to stir up internal conflict within the Dawson family?
âEileen, are you impressed with how much I know?â Christos grinned at her. âAsk me anything else youâre curious about.â
Eileen wasnât very familiar with Travis and Lydia. She had simply assumed that Lydia had married Brandon for his money.
