Chapter 497:
In the upper echelons of society, envy and resentment bubbled beneath the surface. They recognized the strength of the coupleâs union and understood that, from now on, they could no longer afford to offend Eileen.
Meanwhile, the middle and lower classes were amazed by the spectacle of a high-society man willingly marrying into a womanâs family.
At that moment, Stella had a sudden realization. âThey didnât remarry and get a certificate, did they?â
âDefinitely not,â Jarred confirmed with certainty. âIf they had, they would have realized that the document they signed wasnât actually a divorce agreement. You should have told them earlier.â
âItâs alright. Theyâll come back, and Iâll explain everything then,â Stella replied with a dismissive wave of her hand. âI just hope that when Eileen learns about the document they actually signed, sheâll hold fewer grudges against me.â
Jarred paused for a few seconds before responding, âShe certainly will.â
After making waves in the business world, Eileen and Bryan returned to their home.
âAre you happy?â Eileen asked, sitting on the sofa and studying Bryan, whose smile hadnât faded since the announcement.
Bryan nodded, engaging Gabriela with a soft toy. âVery much so.â
Eileen shared his happiness. From this moment onward, she and Bryan no longer had to hide their relationship; she was now officially his wife.
âFrom now on, Gabriela wonât just be confined to our home,â Bryan said as he picked up Gabriela, his eyes glowing with love as he admired her cute features.
And then? Eileenâs smile wavered as she leaned her elbow on the armrest, looking at Bryan. Was he simply content that everyone now knew Gabriela was his daughter? Just pleased that he could finally take Gabriela outside?

âEileen, should we take her out now?â Bryan asked, excitement in his voice. âMaybe we could head to the mall and buy her some new clothes?â
Eileen smiled, replying, âMy mother just bought her several new outfits.â
âThen what about diapers?â Bryan asked.
âWeâre stocked up on those, enough to last for months,â Eileen responded.
Bryan raised another question, âWhat about formula milk?â
âWeâve got that covered as well,â Eileen said.
âWell⦠What does she need, then?â Bryan asked, genuinely puzzled.
Eileen laughed lightly. âShe doesnât need anything, so we donât really have an excuse to parade our daughter around, do we?â
âIs there anything you need?â Bryan pressed. âWith the weather changing, do you need new clothes? We could take her shopping with us.â
âIâm not exactly short on clothes, butâ¦â Eileen teased.
Bryan seized the opportunity. âThen what are you short on?â
