Chapter 511:
âShut up!â Josue interjected sharply, his words laced with bitterness. Suddenly, he reached out and grasped Ednaâs neck, his forehead veins bulging. âThe issue isnât about going back, but how youâve deceived me and kept me from seeing our child!â
Edna felt his grip wasnât tight, yet the emotional pain was intense.
Tears rolled down her cheeks. âBut if you go back with me, you can see the child!â
âNo way!â Josueâs lips parted decisively as he let go of her and turned to leave the room.
After Josue left, Dewitt returned to the room.
âHe wonât go back with you. Let it go,â Dewitt said, raising an eyebrow. âHe values his pride. He canât forgive your deceit.â
Edna cried quietly, then another thought struck her. âThen why did you bring me here? Is it related to what Josue said?â
Dewittâs eyes shifted. âItâs confidential; I canât discuss it. Use this time to try one last time to persuade him. If he doesnât agree this time, you should give up and go back to get married.â
Just as he finished speaking, his phone rang. He excused himself and returned to his room to take the call.
âDonât worry. Iâve arrived safely and am closely monitoring Bryanâs every move, ensuring his safety as best as I can. Please keep my visit a secret to avoid alerting Bryan and complicating our plans to entrap our target. Once we use Bryan to draw out the snake and capture them, weâll make sure he receives significant compensation!â
Josueâs trip took only an hour and a half. Bryan had taken a nap with Gabriela in the café. When Josue returned, Gabriela was still asleep.
âThe reason for their visit isnât what we assumed,â Josue said. âHe isnât just watching that one man; there are several targets heâs after. Donât read too much into it.â Josue felt both frustrated and irritated. This was his first encounter with Edna since their separation five years ago. He had consciously held back his feelings, avoiding even looking at her. Part of him was angry, and the other part feared that he might lose his composure under her soft gaze.
Josue scratched his head and tentatively asked Bryan, âDo you know of any places where they read fortunes?â

âNo,â Josue leaned in and whispered, âI need someone to tell me if Iâm destined to have a son or a daughter.â
Josue hadnât seen the child yet, but he felt he should at least find out whether it was a boy or a girl.
Bryan relaxed in the sunlight, occasionally texting Eileen while watching Gabriela. He was oblivious to Josueâs deep sense of loss and confusion.
He said, âPride doesnât get you much. If you still care for her, let go of her deception.â
