Chapter 525:
He gently pulled her away, examined her carefully, and lifted her sleeve with concern.
Upon noticing a bruise on her elbow, he asked with seriousness and anxiety, âWhat happened to you?â
âIâve treated it with ointment; itâs nothing serious,â Eileen replied. Seeing the mix of nervousness and frustration on Bryanâs face, Eileen shared her encounter with Milford.
Meanwhile, Bryan helped her to the sofa, brought a hot towel, and placed it on her bruise.
âAlways remember that your safety comes first,â Bryan said, his voice still filled with worry.
He understood it was an accident and held no blame toward her.
Eileen tilted her head sideways against the back of the sofa while Bryan pressed gently on her elbow. The heat from the towel seeped through her skin, spreading warmth through her blood.
A comforting warmth spread through her heart. She shifted closer to Bryan, pulling her arm free. âIâm fine. Let me rest here for a bit.â
She then lay down on his lap, soaking in the sunlight, and slowly closed her eyes.
Two hours later, Ruby returned with Gabriela to find Eileen asleep.
Rubyâs expression was slightly odd, but Eileen, groggy from her nap, didnât notice it. She picked up the baby and played with her on the crawling mat.
Later, during lunch, Eileen mentioned Winonaâs condition to Ruby.
Ruby, concerned, said, âHow come we didnât hear about this sooner? I must go see her; it would be rude not to.â
gⱯlnÏνð®âsâ¤cøm, your destination for tales Even if Bailee werenât married to Huey, Ruby had known Winona for many years.
When Winona was ill, she had visited Ruby from time to time.
Ruby felt she had to go to the hospital to visit Winona because of their long-standing friendship.
âMom,â Eileen said, needing to be honest. âEven though Winona ended up in the hospital by accident and stayed in a coma, Huey said she woke up once and only mentioned going through with the arranged engagement. She canât be disturbed right now. Letâs give the Baker family some time.â
âI⦠I wonât bring up the matter about Huey and Bailee,â Ruby said cautiously.
Seeing Rubyâs determination to visit, Eileen gently explained, âItâs not about discussing them; right now, Winona needs to rest. The Baker familyâs main concern is her recovery. If you truly wish to see her, it would be best to wait until sheâs awake.â
Huey wasnât in the right state of mind to host visitors.
Frankie was the same. Despite Ruby and Winonaâs friendship, it wasnât the right time for Ruby to visit before Winona regained consciousness.
The visit would likely make both Huey and Frankie feel uncomfortable.
