Chapter 527:
Bryanâs expression soured. âYou⦠You really want me to suffer from my desire, huh?â
âDo you want to exhaust me then?â Eileen answered with poise after wiping her mouth. She stood up, patted his shoulder, and added, âBesides, youâll have your hands full with Gabriela. I wouldnât want to overburden you.â
With that, she walked into the living room and took Gabriela from Rubyâs arms. âMom, could you look after Gabriela tomorrow morning? Bryan and I have things to handle. Heâll be back by noon.â
âOkay,â Ruby responded.
A dim light illuminated the empty villa.
Zola sat on the sofa, a few pieces of bread before her.
Clutching the key Milford had left, she pondered whether it meant he wasnât coming back.
Milford was really something. Zola believed that with Eileenâs support, Milford must be having a great time at school.
Zola looked down at the bread, her frequent meal lately, and felt nauseous just from the smell.
âMilford, Iâll show you that Eileen is nothing! Sheâll end up being more pitiful than me!â she muttered.
With a flick, she tossed the key away, grabbed her phone, and dialed a number quickly. âSir, Iâm ready to proceed, but on one condition.â
âYou have a condition?â The man on the line sounded both amused. âThatâs bold. Go on.â
There was also a womanâs voice coming from the manâs end of the line. Although it was very faint, it was still audible. Since the man didnât say anything, Zola chose to ignore it.

She was confident in the manâs capabilities; the real question was whether he would agree to her condition.
Zola, however, was far too trusting. The man on the other end of the line spoke with irritation. âFine, but youâve really dragged this out. Iâm losing my patience.â
âTomorrow!â Zola responded without hesitation. âTomorrow is the EB Groupâs press conference. Both Bryan and Eileen will be thereâ¦â
Once the call ended, the man set the phone down, a smirk playing across his face. âI do admire this womanâs spirit. Letâs see how things unfold. If all goes well, I might just give her a hand.â
It was a late autumn day, and the rare warmth of the sun was a delightful surprise. Eileen and Bryan handed Gabriela over to Rubyâs care and set off for the EB Group.
Before they left, Eileen told Ruby, âIf Gabriela starts feeling uneasy, you can take her for a walk around the block, but stay close to home.â
Eileen had concerns about Denise showing up again.
