Chapter 534:
Coen was only joking. He patted Bryanâs shoulder. âYou came here alone, ready to die? Have you thought about what will happen to your wife if youâre gone? Do you think sheâll be able to live without you?â
Bryan pushed Coenâs hand away. âYou could kill me without bringing me here. So letâs get to the point and talk terms.â
âAlright,â Coen said, pulling a small vial from his pocket.
The transparent liquid inside looked like water. âThis is a new drug Iâve developed. Iâm not sure if itâs a success. I want you to test it for me. You have nothing to worry about. Itâs not gonna kill you.â
Bryanâs eyes locked onto the vial. After a moment, he unbuttoned his cuffs. âBring Gabriela and Ruby out, escort them down the mountain, and hand them to my people. Then Iâll try it myself.â
âIâm a man of my word,â Coen said, raising an eyebrow.
âAnd I trust you are, too.â
He gestured, and a door on the second floor opened.
Rubyâs hair was in disarray. She held Gabriela, who was still trembling from fear in her sleep.
Rubyâs clothes were dirty, and she had lost one shoe.
Gabriela, on the other hand, looked unharmed. Her pink outfit was still clean.
Seeing Bryan below, Rubyâs throat tightened as she shouted, âBryan, Gabriela is here!â
Your escape begins at gⱯlnÏνð®âsâ¤com âRuby!â Bryan looked at Gabriela in Rubyâs arms, noticing only a glimpse of pink, unable to see her face clearly.
Still, this was enough to calm him down. âTake Gabriela down the mountain. Theyâll escort you two,â he said to Ruby.
Ruby panicked and asked quickly, âWhat about you?â
âI can handle this. Donât worry about me,â Bryan assured her. âGabrielaâs safety comes first. Take her and go.â
Rubyâs heart raced when she heard this.
She had managed to keep Gabriela safe, which would ease Eileenâs worries.
However, Bryan would stay behind now. Wasnât he also Eileenâs whole world?
When she hesitated, she looked at the many black-clad men and then at Bryan alone. She understood the situation.
Either they all died here, or she could save Gabrielaâ¦
She couldnât save Bryan.
âLetâs move,â said a man in black, stepping forward to lead Ruby outside.
Bryan kept his eyes on Gabriela in Rubyâs arms until they disappeared into the forest.
It was just a thirty-minute journey. Bryan waited for the update.
Coen monitored his men, displaying a crude screen showing Rubyâs progress.
âYouâre in a tough spot,â Coen said to Bryan. âThose cops donât really support you. They only want to use you to catch me.â
