Coen was only joking. He patted Bryan’s shoulder. “You came here alone, ready to die? Have you thought about what will happen to your wife if you’re gone? Do you think she’ll be able to live without you?”

Bryan pushed Coen’s hand away. “You could kill me without bringing me here. So let’s get to the point and talk terms.”

“Alright,” Coen said, pulling a small vial from his pocket.

The transparent liquid inside looked like water. “This is a new drug I’ve developed. I’m not sure if it’s a success. I want you to test it for me. You have nothing to worry about. It’s not gonna kill you.”

Bryan’s eyes locked onto the vial. After a moment, he unbuttoned his cuffs. “Bring Gabriela and Ruby out, escort them down the mountain, and hand them to my people. Then I’ll try it myself.”

“I’m a man of my word,” Coen said, raising an eyebrow.

“And I trust you are, too.”

He gestured, and a door on the second floor opened.

Ruby’s hair was in disarray. She held Gabriela, who was still trembling from fear in her sleep.

Ruby’s clothes were dirty, and she had lost one shoe.

Gabriela, on the other hand, looked unharmed. Her pink outfit was still clean.

Seeing Bryan below, Ruby’s throat tightened as she shouted, “Bryan, Gabriela is here!”

“I can handle this. Don’t worry about me,” Bryan assured her. “Gabriela’s safety comes first. Take her and go.”

Ruby’s heart raced when she heard this.

She had managed to keep Gabriela safe, which would ease Eileen’s worries.

However, Bryan would stay behind now. Wasn’t he also Eileen’s whole world?

When she hesitated, she looked at the many black-clad men and then at Bryan alone. She understood the situation.

Either they all died here, or she could save Gabriela…

“Let’s move,” said a man in black, stepping forward to lead Ruby outside.
