Chapter 609:
Zolaâs parents had readily agreed. They demanded a substantial sum and allowed the Dawson family to take Zola away without any second thoughts.
Zola vividly remembered that scene. As a result, she harbored more resentment toward her parents than toward Brandon and Lydia. After squandering the money from selling Zola, her parents had plagued her again, incessantly demanding more money. Eventually, Zola had been driven to desperation. She had orchestrated a car accident and killed her parents.
Milford was the only family she had left. She hadnât planned to associate with him, but when Bryan visited Wist Land, she acknowledged Milford to maintain contact with Bryan.
The information Raymond sent to Eileen included evidence that Zola had bribed a truck driver to murder her parents.
In the evening, Eileen went directly to Zolaâs place. After knocking, she heard Zolaâs voice from inside, âLeave the takeout at the door. Iâll get it myself.â
âItâs me. Open the door,â Eileen replied.
As soon as she finished speaking, she heard movement inside the room.
After a long pause, the door finally opened. In addition to Zola, a man was also inside the room. Wearing a vest, the man brushed past Eileen and exited without a word.
The air inside was thick with the unpleasant smell of hormones.
Zola, usually so confident and poised, now appeared disheveled, although her eyes still retained a hint of arrogance. She opened the window to let in some fresh air, sat down on the sofa, and lit a cigarette.
Once the smell began to dissipate, Eileen stepped inside and tossed a sealed bag onto the table in front of Zola.
âEileen, have you been having a tough time lately? Are you afraid to face me?â Zola asked as she opened the bag. âSo, youâre finally ready to confront me, huh? Why have you been such a coward?â
Åãâ â¬$t ¢âαÏŧÑÑÅ 1Ï [dot]com With her hands in her pockets, Eileen calmly let Zola speak her mind. She watched as Zolaâs expression shifted when she clearly saw the contents of the sealed bag. A subtle smile spread across Eileenâs face.
âConsider yourself lucky that Iâve hesitated for so long, or you wouldnât even be living the life you have now. Letâs make an agreement: give me Travisâs whereabouts, and I wonât hand the evidence over to the authorities,â Eileen said, her voice cold.
âWhat do you want with Travis?â Zola stood up, her eyes locking with Eileenâs. âWhat, are you planning to kill Travis to avenge Bryan? Even if you do, Bryan wonât come back! And youâll end up in prison!â
Zolaâs words seemed to be an attempt to dissuade Eileen, but the thought of it all exhilarated her. She continued, âIf you really go through with it, I wonât mind if you take the evidence to the cops. Maybe we can still be friends⦠behind bars!â
She seemed unhinged now, possibly due to the overwhelming circumstances that had drained her will to live.
âYouâve lost completely. Donât try to drag me down with you. Where is Travis?â Eileen demanded, her tone as icy as ever.
âI have no idea where he is, but heâs been asking about you through me.â Zola sat back down. âHe seems interested in you. Should I pass along a message telling him youâre looking for him?â
Eileen wasnât sure if Travis would hide further upon learning that she was looking for him, nor did she understand why he had asked Zola about her.
