“A lot has happened recently. She came to my home once and left. I didn’t expect her to come back again,” Eileen replied. She didn’t think the rumors would have spread so widely just because Denise had visited once. Eileen believed Denise must have been stirring up trouble regularly to keep those older women gossiping about Ruby and her.

In the restaurant, Judie, who had just finished taking orders from the customers, couldn’t help but frown when she saw Roderick running out after Eileen and Bryan.

“Judie, can I have a word with you?” Denise asked, not daring to confront Roderick directly. She approached Judie to discuss the matter.

Judie responded with frustration, “What’s the point of discussing this with me? If you have concerns, you should speak directly with your son. After all, he makes the decisions, not me.”

Denise shot back, “Listen to yourself. You’re clearly unhappy with him too, aren’t you? Roderick is straightforward but naive, and that’s why he’s being taken advantage of by Eileen.”

Judie, while organizing the money on the counter, remained silent, waiting for Denise to elaborate further.

Denise continued, “Even though Eileen is technically meeting her legal obligations, morally, what she’s doing is insufficient. Two thousand a month is a mere pittance for her. She clearly doesn’t consider me important.”

“What are you getting at?” Judie glanced anxiously towards the door, worried that Roderick might return.

Denise lowered her voice and suggested, “Tell Eileen to buy a villa for the baby you’re carrying. I don’t want the two thousand a month anymore. A villa would be a good way to silence me and sever my ties with her. Doesn’t that sound reasonable?”

Judie’s eyes widened in interest.

A villa? Such a purchase would run into the tens of millions. They had recently earned some money, but it was still nowhere near enough. It seemed Eileen was quite irritated with Denise. If parting ways could be achieved with a price tag in the tens of millions… would Eileen agree?

Judie realized something and gently took Denise’s arm, smiling. “Mom, you’re getting older. I’ve been concerned about you, especially since you’ve been burning the midnight oil with us. I’ll hire a waiter for the restaurant soon so that you can rest at home for a bit. Besides, once we buy the villa, we’ll need a housekeeper for the large space. I can’t manage that myself since I’m pregnant. You don’t need to worry about work anymore—just stay home and relax.”

It was Denise who needed to request the villa from Eileen. Therefore, it was essential to make Denise happy first.

“Okay,” Denise replied.

Judie had initially planned to buy a three-bedroom house, but with Denise now suggesting a grand villa, her spirits lifted.

In the past, when Judie and Roderick had wanted to buy a house, Eileen had refused to help them. Back then, the house had only cost two million. Eileen might not have had so many issues with them now if she had just bought it for them back then.
