Chapter 628:
âWhat are you not used to?â Jacob retorted. âSo, itâs only when Eileen and Gabriela are around that youâre uneasy? Maybe you should go back to the village.â
âLet Zelda look after him,â Josue chimed in.
As soon as Jacob and Josue finished speaking, Bryan grabbed the pillow from behind him and hurled it at them.
Josue managed to deflect the pillow, letting it fall to the floor. Both Josue and Jacob appeared rather pleased with themselves.
Eileen felt a sharp headache from their constant bickering. She decided she wouldnât visit so often in the future.
âMake sure heâs well taken care of. Iâm leaving now,â Eileen said as she rose, grabbing her bag and putting the pillow back on the bed.
She glanced at Bryan and then said, âDonât come out to see me unless itâs important. The injection is crucial. Iâll visit when I have the time.â
Without waiting for Bryan to reply, Eileen nodded to the doctor, turned on her heel, and left.
It seemed she was eager to leave quickly after disrupting Bryanâs treatment.
Once back in the car, Eileen immediately called Raymond to inquire about Milfordâs situation in prison.
âEverything is set up as planned,â Raymond replied. âYou asked me to find a way to get him out, and Iâve notified him. We can make arrangements, butâ¦â He sighed. âMilford is incredibly stubborn. He had the messenger convey that he sees himself as a villain. He believes your presence in his life was like a dazzling fireworkâbright, fleeting, but enough for him.â
Raymondâs voice carried a deep concern.
Eileen furrowed her brow, sympathy for Milford rising within her. âIs there any way you can arrange for me to see or speak with him?â
Read the latest updates at gαâηÏνâ¯ðsâ¤com Raymond said without hesitation, âMs. Curtis, Milfordâs attitude makes it clear that he wonât see or speak to you. Our best option now is to ensure heâs well taken care of inside and that he can continue his studies.â
Eileen replied, âOkay.â
After a long silence, she added, âGet in touch with Willowbrook University. They may have publicly dismissed him, but they set up a special graduation exam for him in prison. We need to make sure he earns that diploma and do everything we can to reduce his sentenceâ¦â
Her mind raced with plans for Milford. She wanted to do everything she could to help him.
She couldnât shake the feeling that if it werenât for her and Bryanâand if Zola hadnât found Milfordâhe wouldnât be in this situation.
Milford was smart. Although he might have been bullied by the thugs in Wist Land at first, he would have eventually found his own way to live well.
These thoughts churned in Eileenâs mind, leaving her restless. On the drive back, the vibrant city lights blurred past her, sinking her deeper into thought.
She couldnât recall the last time she had seen Milford, but memories of him playing with Gabriela at her home, running to school, and working diligently flooded her mind.
On the rare free weekend, Bailee visited Eileen, with Huey in tow.
âYou dropped by so suddenly,â Ruby complained with a smile. âWeâre out of food.â
âTake a rest here. Iâll go get some,â Eileen said as she headed upstairs to change.
Ruby quickly stopped her. âYou donât know how to cook, so you wouldnât know what to buy. Iâll go. Bailee needs to discuss matters about the education agency with you. Iâll handle the groceries.â
