Chapter 637:
Once she finished, she remained standing, pausing in a corner to collect herself.
Her last shred of hope had been shattered, overwhelming her completely.
Staying composed had become a struggle for her now.
âThe doctor mentioned I could be discharged if I stay inside and avoid going out. Heâd come by daily to check on me and draw blood,â Bryan said, pausing a few steps behind Eileen. He leaned against the wall. âWhat do you think?â
His tone was light, but it barely masked the turmoil within his heart.
âWhy didnât you bring this up sooner?â Eileen asked, taking a deep breath. She turned to face him, managing a strained smile. âItâs a hassle for me to visit the hospital every day. If you head home, Gabriela can see you all the time.â
âBut my return⦠it might not really be for the best.â
Bryan was uncertain whether reentering Eileenâs and Gabrielaâs lives now was the right choice. His health condition was still unknown. But he knew Eileen would be happier if he returned now.
However, he also understood that this happiness would be temporary.
âBryan, letâs have a wedding.â Ignoring Bryanâs words, Eileen gently tugged at his hospital gown, her eyes downcast. âYou owe me a wedding. Every woman dreams of marrying the love of her life. We donât need a large crowd, but our families should be there.â
Bryan tensed. After a few seconds of silence, he finally asked, âAre you sure?â
âYes, Iâm sure. Itâs not too late. You owe me this,â Eileen replied, meeting his gaze.
She was right. They had been legally married for years, yet they had never had a wedding.

Eileen watched him leave the room, noticing he didnât have a cigarette in hand. He was gone for more than half an hour. When he returned, Eileen was surprised to smell the faint scent of smoke on him.
âI just spoke with the doctor,â Bryan said, settling back onto the bed. âHe said I can go home after todayâs infusion. Heâll start coming to my place for treatment tomorrow.â
He paused, his eyes meeting hers, and then asked, âDo you want to go home with me?â
Eileen stared at him for a moment before responding, âYou can go wherever you want. But donât step into my house again unless you hold the wedding.â
Bryan was left speechless. Her declaration both amused him and caught him off guard. Meanwhile, Eileen, clearly frustrated, moved toward the sofa to grab her bag, preparing to leave.
Without hesitation, Bryan reached out and encircled her slender waist to stop her.
Eileen, aware that Bryan didnât have much strength, didnât push him away. Instead, she remained in his arms, her hands resting lightly against his chest.
âWe will have the wedding,â Bryan said softly. âBut we need to discuss something first.â
âAre you worried Iâll do something to you?â Eileen asked, her voice tinged with amusement.
Bryan raised an eyebrow and replied seriously, âI am, indeed.â
