Chapter 656:
When they arrived home, Ruby noticed Bryanâs somber look and whispered to Eileen to ask about it.
Eileen replied, âIt might just be pre-wedding jitters, combined with a disagreement with Stella. Donât let it trouble you.â
After offering a few comforting words to Ruby, Eileen began to prepare lunch.
Out of the blue, Rubyâs phone rang. Frowning when she saw the caller ID, she stepped outside to answer the call.
âWhatâs the purpose of this? Hurting Eileen wonât be good for you. Even if you succeed, you wonât get anything from it. Are you even serious right now? Threatening me with this? I havenât mentioned anything to Eileen yet because I donât want to make things ugly. Do you honestly think Iâm scared of you?â
After a heated exchange, Ruby ended the call.
Turning around, Ruby was taken aback when she saw Eileen holding Gabriela behind her, nearly dropping her phone in surprise.
âEileen, I think the pot in the kitchen might be boiling over. I need to check on it,â Ruby said, attempting to leave, but Eileen stepped in her way.
âWho was on the phone with you?â Eileen asked, having caught bits of the conversation. Although she wasnât clear on the specifics, she could tell it was about her.
Ruby hesitated briefly before responding, âAn old acquaintance. Iâll handle cooking first and explain everything to you later.â
Her lack of skill in lying was evident as her ears flushed red while she spoke.
Eileen moved aside, and Ruby nearly fled to the kitchen.

âRegarding Eileen, I donât wantââ
Eileenâs gaze darkened as she saw the unfamiliar number. She took Rubyâs phone and unlocked it, discovering that Ruby had been in communication with this number through several messages in recent days.
Although the senderâs name wasnât displayed, Eileen quickly deduced it was Denise. Denise had recently attempted to blackmail her into buying a villa, and when that had failed, she had continued to harass Ruby.
The messages implied that Ruby had probably spent a lot of Eileenâs money before, and now Denise was demanding money for a villa. Additionally, Denise had leveraged Eileenâs secrets, subtly hinting that they could potentially impact her.
Despite Rubyâs repeated warnings to Denise, the responses had been the same: âIf you care about Eileen so much, buy me a villa.â
Deniseâs persistent demands for a villa made Eileen scoff. As she was reading the messages, another one from Denise arrived:
âIâll be at Seaside Cafe at two in the afternoon. If you fail to show up, Iâll make a scene at Eileenâs wedding tomorrow!â
