Chapter 664:
Bryan glanced down at his legs. Half of his feet had been numb for a while now, and the numbness was creeping upward. If he didnât receive the antidote soon, he might even struggle to walk.
âFind a doctor and get me an injection. I need to make sure I can walk Eileen to the wedding car smoothly tomorrow and make it through the wedding. I might not be able to give her a complete version of myself, but I can at least give her a complete wedding,â Bryan said.
Josue instinctively objected. âThe doctor said you should only take that injection as a last resort. It could worsen your condition and interfere with other medications.â
âIt doesnât matter if it worsens my condition. Iâll get the antidote soon anyway.â Bryan massaged his knees and legs, gradually feeling them again after a long while.
He managed to stand up and saw a car speeding by outside the window.
It was Eileenâs car.
He headed straight for the door and said to Josue and Jacob, âIâm leaving this in your hands. Ask the doctor to come here after midnight. Iâll be here by then.â
Bailee had just returned when Ruby asked her to look after Gabriela for a bit. When Eileen and Ruby finally came back, Gabriela was already asleep.
âEileen, Mom, where have you been? Why did you rush off?â Bailee got up and walked to the porch to greet them.
As soon as they had entered the room, Ruby passed the baby to Bailee and hurried out without offering any explanation.
Ruby waved her hand dismissively and said, âNothing. Didnât you have a gift for Eileen? Let her see.â She quickly shifted the topic to avoid discussing Eileenâs identity.
Bailee presented a banknote and a wedding quilt she had crafted herself.

Itâs traditional for a mother to make a quilt when her daughter gets married, and I made this one under our motherâs guidance. If any issues arise in the future, you donât have to face them alone. Iâll help you with it.â Bailee patted the quilt inside the bag and smiled at Eileen. âI hope youâll tell us immediately if something happens or if you face any difficulties in the future. Donât go through everything alone.â
Eileen felt a warmth in her heart. As long as she could remember, it was Ruby and Bailee who had provided her with endless warmth. She truly considered them family.
She was aware that Ruby and Bailee had felt gratitude and guilt towards her in the past, and they had always tried their hardest not to burden her. Now, she was relieved they felt comfortable sharing this with her.
âOkay,â Eileen smiled and accepted the quilt, pressing her lips together to hold back the flood of emotions welling up inside. She struggled with the emotional moment and was on the verge of tears.
Just then, Bryan opened the door and entered.
