Chapter 889:
âThatâs because I had Bryanâs backing,â Eileen admitted. She had to acknowledge that without Bryan, she wouldnât have been able to become the CEO of EB Group. Without him, her greatest achievement would have been establishing educational organizations across the country.
âTo EB Group, thatâs nothing,â Leyla said. âIf Bryan backed someone else, they would probably screw it up! Eileen, youâre amazing. The Vazquez family is yours now. You donât need to be so humble. Youâre the Vazquez familyâs daughter, after all!â
Eileen sniffled, a hint of pride in her voice. âYouâre right.â
Leylaâs eyes narrowed as she thought of something. âHas Bryan mistreated you since heâs so capable?â
Leyla seemed worried. Eileen had been using Bryanâs influence to handle Conroy and Gianna lately. What if Bryan was unhappy with this and started making things difficult for Eileen?
âI wouldnât dare,â Bryan chuckled, walking into the room. âEileenâs not just a business whiz; she also has a PhD in keeping me in line.â
He patted his jacket pocket. âEvery card in my pocket is her supplementary card.â
Seeing that Leylaâs gaze was gradually turning disapproving, Eileen almost wanted to curse Bryan out. The nerve of this guy! He had practically begged her to get him supplementary cards instead of using his own. And when he maxed them out accidentally, she was the one who had to go to the bank to fix it.
This was nothing but trouble for her!
âWell⦠thatâs not entirely it. Itâs just that Eileen is in charge,â Leyla still sided with Eileen.

âExactly. Iâd never dream of mistreating her. Itâs actually the other way around.â
Leylaâs jaw dropped. âHas Eileen mistreated you? My sweet Eileen? Donât be ridiculous! Sheâs not that kind of person.â
âItâs true,â Bryan lied without hesitation. âSheâs sometimes very cruel to me, making me kneel for half the night.â
Eileen couldnât believe Bryan was saying this. She clapped a hand over his mouth and shoved him. âGrandma, can you watch Gabriela for a while? I just remembered something I need to do.â
Leyla, eyes wide, watched as Eileen dragged Bryan out of the room. He was taller than her, but he let her drag him like a puppy on a leash.
Back in their room, Eileen pushed Bryan onto the bed. âWhat the hell was that? You canât just lie to my grandmother!â
âHey, I wasnât lying,â Bryan sprawled on the bed, his shirt slightly lifted, revealing part of his abs. âIâm practically on my knees every day, arenât I?â
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â Eileen scoffed.
âYou think kneeling every day is a punishment? Relax, Iâm never going to make you do it again!â
Bryanâs smile vanished. He tried to explain, âThatâs not what I meantâ¦â
