Chapter 916:
âMr. Dawson, Iâm not asking for the same kindness you show Ms. Curtis, but please, treat me like a human being!â
Raymond felt like he was in a dilemma.
How could he be expected to handle so many things? He was already burdened with resolving the chaos in Onaland, and now he had the added responsibility of overseeing the VQ Group!
Every time a problem arose, Bryan would task him with resolving it. He barely had any time to catch his breath.
âIâm thirty-two now, but Iâm still not married. My schedule has been too full; I donât have any time for my personal matters,â Raymond said. Bryan slung his suit jacket over his arm, leaned against the desk, and clapped Raymond on the shoulder.
âConsider this: The companies I tasked you to run have hundreds of thousands of employees, half of whom are women. Yet, youâre still single. Maybe itâs time to lower your standards for a partner,â Bryan said.
âI donât have time to look for a partner!â Raymond retorted quickly. He was so swamped with work that he didnât even have time to notice whether the person who sent him a document was male or female.
âWhen I was in the Apex Group, wasnât I busier than you?â Bryan asked with a straight face. âDespite that, I was still able to win Eileenâs heart, wasnât I?â
Raymondâs lips twitched. As far as he was concerned, the situation was the other way around. It was actually Eileen who had captured Bryanâs heart.
âYouâre a sought-after man, but your demanding work leaves you with limited time for relationships. You should learn to utilize your time wisely. And donât forget, our company doesnât prohibit workplace romances. Isnât that a chance for you to find love?â Bryan said as he adjusted his cufflinks and fastened them securely.

Once youâre preoccupied, you wonât be able to reach me by phone all the time, and sometimes, you go crazy and call me at midnight, demanding assistance with matters related to the Vazquez family. I just canâtâ¦â
When Raymond uttered the phrase âgo crazy,â he felt a sudden twinge of unease. Only after he finished speaking did he realize his mistake, and his heart skipped a beat in anxiety.
But Bryan seemed unfazed by Raymondâs slip-up. He said, âEileen once told me that I shouldnât hold others accountable for their mistakes when Iâve benefited from them. You help me run the company, and in return, I give you leeway to make the occasional verbal mistake.â
Raymond was unable to stop himself from leaving and could only watch as Bryan departed. He silently wished that Bryanâs car would experience a breakdown midway.
As luck would have it, Bryanâs car did indeed suffer a breakdown when he was an hourâs drive away from the Vazquez Mansion.
Bryan tried calling Eileen multiple times, but his calls went unanswered. He knew that she had silenced her phone.
Due to the surroundings, devoid of any shops or passing cars, Bryan had no choice but to call Raymond and ask for assistance.
It took the team two hours to track down Bryanâs exact location. Meanwhile, Bryan perched on the roof of his car, smoking, as the night began to fall.
