Chapter 919:
Jessica scoffed and continued playing a game on her phone, but Gianna suddenly suggested, âPerhaps we could explore a marriage alliance.â
The moment she made the proposal, Gianna found herself the focus of incredulous looks from both Jessica and Conroy.
âWith whom?â Conroy asked, his voice laced with disbelief. âAt this point, my situation is so desperate that no family would want me as a husband.â
Giannaâs face darkened. âWho said Iâm talking about you?â
âDonât you feel ashamed thinking about this at your age?â Jessica snapped. The moment she stopped speaking, she sprang to her feet and exclaimed, âYouâre the one who should feel ashamed! Youâve never shown me any love since the day I was born. Now that youâre being ousted from the Vazquez family, do you expect me to marry for wealth just so you can maintain your luxurious lifestyle?â
âWhat are you talking about?â Gianna retorted icily. âRegardless of my flaws, Iâm still your mother, the person who brought you into this world. Havenât I done everything for your sake?â
Jessicaâs expression twisted into a sneer, her words dripping with sarcasm. âSpare me the theatrics. Youâre just refusing to face reality! Do you think I want to be your daughter? To everyone else, Iâm just an illegitimate child. I hate you!â
With that, she snatched a cup from the table and hurled it straight at Gianna.
Conroy was about to rise and intervene, but he instinctively sat back down, dodging the flying cup.
Seeing Conroy about to rise, Gianna let her guard down. She hadnât expected him to quickly sit back down, leaving her unprepared for the cup. The cup hit her face directly.
Donât miss fresh updates on gαâηÏνðâsâ¤cøm âAh!â Gianna cried out, clutching her forehead as blood trickled down. Conroyâs eyes widened in shock, and he leaped to his feet, exclaiming, âWhat are you two doing? Gianna, youâre bleeding! Letâs go to the hospital now!â
Jessica let out a disdainful snort, spun on her heel, and stormed upstairs, leaving Conroy to take Gianna to the hospital by himself.
When Leyla had retired to bed the previous night, Bryan had not been there, so his presence in the Vazquez Mansion the next morning left her momentarily stunned. Then she realized what had happened.
With a knowing smile, she asked, âI didnât hear your driver park the car. Where did you leave your car?â
âIt broke down halfway,â Bryan shifted slightly, looking a bit uneasy. âI wouldnât have shown up here in the dead of night if it wasnât necessary.â
âYou entered Eileenâs room, so you didnât disturb me,â Leyla glanced around the living room and only saw Bryan and Gabriela. She quickly understood something. She summoned the servant and instructed, âPrepare breakfast, but set aside a portion for my granddaughter.â
âItâs still quite chilly, even though itâs May,â the servant remarked. âThe portion might get cold quickly.â
âA cold breakfast can be reheated, but lost sleep canât be easily made up for,â Leyla said jokingly.
Bryan raised his eyebrows and smiled.
