Chapter 924:
He shook his head. âIâm afraid I donât know much, Mrs. Aston. I mostly worked for his father back then.â
âJust answer this: when did Keith and Dottie break up?â Kamilaâs voice was steady but demanding.
Her authority was unmistakable. For years, she had controlled the Aston household. Keith had left most of the household matters to her while he focused on earning money, trusting her to handle everything else.
The driver knew better than to go against Kamila.
âA month before Keith met you,â he admitted.
Kamilaâs brows furrowed. She pulled out her phone, her fingers tapping quickly as she searched for information on Eileen. She found detailed records, including her birthdate. The dates aligned.
She slipped the paper into her bag. âHave the chef prepare some coffee for my husband when he returns.â
âOf course, Mrs. Aston,â the driver quickly responded.
Dottieâs coffin was exhumed and transported to the Vazquez familyâs ancestral cemetery. Guards stood watch, barring Keithâs entry.
Five long hours passed before Dottie was finally laid to rest. As Eileen left the cemetery, she caught sight of Keithâs retreating figure. He was slumped, weary, descending the mountain with the weight of loneliness on his shoulders.
As soon as Eileen returned to the Vazquez Mansion, Leyla guessed what had happened.
Updates loaded at g@lnoνeðµsâ¤com âDid Keith show up again?â she asked.
Eileen nodded. She then recounted everything that had transpired.
Leylaâs eyes welled up with tears.
âShould we give him the Vazquez familyâs pass so that he can visit Dottieâs grave whenever he needs to?â
Eileen shook her head, her voice steady. âGrandma, itâs been so many years. He has a family now, a life of his own. What we need to do is help him move on, not keep feeding his sorrow, trapping him in the past, and denying him peace in his old age.â
Keith had a wife, children, and probably even grandchildren by now. His future should be filled with family gatherings, not endless pilgrimages to a grave that would never bring back what he lost.
Leyla sighed. âYouâre right, Eileen. After you get things under control at the Vazquez Group, you can go back to Onaland if you want.â
Eileen hesitated. âWhat about you? Will you come to Onaland with me?â
Leyla shook her head. âIâm too old for such a journey. Iâll stay here, watching over your grandfather and Yalif.â
âThen letâs not discuss this now. The VQ Group needs my attention; I canât leave yet.â Eileenâs heart grew heavy. She wasnât putting things off, but the matters here still required some time to deal with.
After Dottie was finally laid to rest in the family cemetery, Leylaâs relief was palpable, and her smile brighter than it had been in years.
