Chapter 11 the Return of Ron Thebes, Egypt 1324

Alexandria

A month and a half later I was sitting by one of the pools in the temple complex watching the twins squirm around in the grass, gurgling happily to themselves, when Tutankhamun came in and sat next to me “Beautiful, aren’t they?” he asked, gazing down at his children

“Yes they are, and so is Ankhesenamun” I smiled.

“Alexandria”

“Yes Tutankhamun?”

“Do you still love me?” he asked

“Of course I do, why do you ask?”

“I was just wondering

“Do you still love me?” I asked

“Of course I do, I love you as much as I love Ankhesenamun and the twins”

“Good” I smiled. Just then Ankhesenamun entered and sat down, and after a minute of silence she asked

“Well, we’ve done everything that we’d hoped to do in the past few months, so the question is what now?”

“Not too sure” Tutankhamun replied as we continued to watch the twins squirm and giggle in grass. Late that night, Thutmose, Tiye and I couldn’t sleep. I’d placed them on my pillow

“You two have such a wonderful father and aunt” I sighed as I looked down at their squirming bodies, as they gurgled in response “Wonder what it’ll be like if I brought you two back to my own time” I smiled when they cooed “You two don’t understand a word that I’m saying do you?” I asked, and my response was more cooing. I then heard the door to my room open and quickly whisper shut, when I looked over to see who it was, I found Tutankhamun standing by the door, “Yes my love?” I asked as I turned onto my side

“Just wanted to see if you were asleep” he replied as he crossed the room as I looked down at the twins, who were looking over at their father.

“They couldn’t sleep either” I said

“I sort of guessed when I heard you talking to them” he said as he crawled onto the bed and lied next to me and the babies

“I guess that you couldn’t sleep either my love?”

“Nope” he sighed as he moved a lock of hair from my face

“I’m guessing that we’ll be traveling back to Thebes tomorrow?” I asked as I sat up and tried to get the twins to go to sleep

“Yep” he said once the twins finally asleep, and I’d set them in their bed, and I’d crawled back into bed “ You should get some sleep” Tutankhamun said as he kissed my neck

“I know, you should too” I replied as I put my head onto my pillow

“Good night” he chuckled

“Good night” I smiled as we fell asleep together. Early the next the morning I was gently shaken awake by Ankhesenamun “Is it time to go?” I asked as I stretched

“Yep” she replied as I got up and got dressed.

Later on that morning, when we were finally ready to depart, Ankhesenamun offered to watch over the twins in the chariot, so Tutankhamun and I rode on the horses all the way back to Thebes, luckily the ride only took half the day. When we arrived we rested for the rest of the day. But early the next morning Tutankhamun was busy again, while Ankhesenamun and I found ourselves bored out of our minds once more.

“Maybe we should start attending Tutankhamun’s meetings with him” Ankhesenamun suggested one afternoon,

“Anything better than this” I sighed. So when the next morning came, we decided to ask Tutankhamun at breakfast “My lord” I said as I turned to him

“Yes my lady?” he asked in return

“Ankhesenamun and I were wondering if we could start attending your meetings with you.”

“Now why in the name of Amun do you two want to do that?” he asked surprised

“Well you see my lord; we’re very bored and are seeking something to do”

“As you wish, but I’ll only fully agree to this if you two can last through the day” he laughed.

Ankhesenamun

When it was finally time for lunch Alexandria and I slumped into our seats “Gods, what have we gotten ourselves into?” I sighed

“I have no idea” she sighed in return as Tutankhamun strode in

“And how are my lovely ladies doing?” he asked as he sat in between us

“It seems like you’ve changed up the court my lord” I replied as I sat up straighter

“What do you mean?” he laughed

“Well it’s very different from when we were children”

“My lady if I may say so, the reason it’s so different and so changed from the time of your father is because there is a weak little child on the throne” Aye said as he rose from his seat near the wall of the dining hall, and Tutankhamun glared at him. Just then Alexandria rose,

“No Aye, our Pharaoh isn’t a weak child, he is a man, no he is more than a mere man, he is a God, and you’re the weak child” she yelled

“Well maybe our ‘Pharaoh’ had better keep better control of his wife”

“No Aye, she’s correct, and she’s free to do as she wishes” Tutankhamun yelled in return

“Oh, then what about Ankhesenamun then, as I hear she hasn’t bore you any sons and that she’s holding another man’s child”

“No Aye, she isn’t holding another man’s child, she is holding mine” There were a few gasps, followed by loud cheering throughout the hall. I saw Aye’s turn bright red, clearly mad that his plan had backfired. “Aye please sit back down” Tutankhamun commanded over the noise and the old man obeyed. When we left the room I let out a sigh

“Aye is such a, a”

“A big jerk” Alexandria continued when I stopped

“Agreed” Tutankhamun sighed, but kept walking towards a small garden

“What’s wrong with our dearest lover?” Alexandria asked as we took his hands in ours

“Is it what Aye said?” I asked

“Yes”

“Listen, I don’t want you to listen to anyone who calls you a child when you are very much a strong a noble God” Alexandria said as we kissed his cheeks

“Do you two really think so?” he asked

“Of course we do” I said as we hugged him. An hour later Alexandria and I were sunbathing by a pond with the twins napping with us while Tutankhamun was dealing with some problems that a few priests had

“Poor Tutankhamun I know how much he hates people calling him what he’s not” I sighed

“Yeah, I wish everyone else would stop seeing him as a child, and see him as the man that he’s become”

“Agreed” I sighed again, just then Aye walked in and we sat up and we sat up and quickly handed the twins to their wet-nurse and faced our greatest enemy

“What do you want Aye?” Alexandria demanded

“I just thought that I would teach you two a lesson on talking out of turn” he replied as he stepped closer

“Aye stop or else we’ll call the guards” I yelled only to feel his rough hand slap me against my cheek

“Guards” I heard Alexandria scream and saw the old man slap her on the cheek

“You foolish woman, when will you learn to shut your mouth?” I saw Ramose run out with a team of guards, who arrested Aye. Then everything went black. When I woke, I found Tutankhamun leaning over me and Alexandria sleeping next to me

“She’s been out for a few hours” Tutankhamun said as he held my hand, I saw tear streaks running down his cheeks

“Have you been crying?” I asked as I rubbed his face

“I, I thought that I’d lost you two and the twins

“Where are the babies” I gasped, suddenly panicked

“They are well and luckily still asleep” he said as he put his head next to mine.

“How have you and Alexandria been?” I wondered

“Good”

“Are you two planning on having anymore children?”

“I don’t know, it’s up to her”

“Why is it that you always leave stuff like that up to Alexandria and I?” I asked, making him blush

“I don’t know” he replied as I felt Alexandria shift next to me

“What did you do with Aye?”

“Had him whipped”

“Good” I sighed as he smiled again. I then heard a little whimper come from Tiye

“I’ll get her” Tutankhamun said as he got up and retrieved the baby         “She looks a lot like you” Tutankhamun smiled

“Oh stop, you that she looks more like Alexandria” I said

“There’s some of you in here too” he said as he passed the baby over to me.

When Alexandria finally woke up I carried outside to be with Ankhesenamun and the twins in the little garden they’d made for me “How have you been?” she asked

“Good, how’d you sleep?”

“Good, how are Ankhesenamun and the twins?”

“They’re doing very good” I replied, and she kissed me, making me stop for a second to kiss her back, then continued walking. When I’d set down on the bench that Ankhesenamun was sitting on, she picked up the twins and hugged them, and kissed their little heads, and in response they giggled. I smiled as I watched the two most beautiful women play with our children.

“They’ll be so beautiful when they’re fully grown” Ankhesenamun sighed as she hugged Tiye

“Yes they will be and our husband will always be wonderful” Alexandria said as she took my hand and put it against her warm cheek

“I would have to agree, and I have the most wonderful family in all of Egypt” I sighed, feeling happy to be with them. When it was time for dinner we went to the dining hall. When we’d settled into our seats and the performers had started performing, and dinner had been served, the three of us got into a deep conversation about politics

“Yes Ankhesenamun, but you see I think that it would be good if we,” I stopped and looked over at Alexandria and asked “Are you all right my lady?”

“Yes my lord, I’m just fine” she smiled

“Thinking about Aye again?”

“Yeah”

“What else are you thinking about?” Ankhesenamun asked

“I think that we should travel around Egypt”

“I think that’s a wonderful idea” I smiled at her.

“When should we set off?’ Ankhesenamun asked when we were in my office

“Well considering how long it will take to get the supplies ready, I think in a few weeks” I replied as I started getting the papers ready.

Alexandria

A few weeks later we were aboard one of the two ships that we were bringing on our travel through Egypt, it was called ‘The Beloved of Amun’. Tutankhamun said that his grandfather Amunhotep III had made it when he’d been Pharaoh and had sailed through Egypt several times in his life. A couple of months later, after visiting several towns and cities in Egypt, including Memphis, Akhmim, Akhetaten, Giza, and many others, we returned to Thebes Exhausted. When I’d put my head on my pillow I dreamed of my family. The next morning I told Ankhesenamun and Tutankhamun of my dream.

“Maybe once Abasi returns, we can get him to bring your family here” Tutankhamun said

“I think that’ll be a wonderful idea” I smiled. A few weeks later Tutankhamun and I were racing across the desert, and I was in the lead. I loved feeling the wind in my face as I raced along. I closed my eyes for a second, and when I reopened them I saw a little figure walking in my path, so I pulled on the reins. The chariot stopped a few feet from the figure and I saw that it was Ron

“Ron, what are you doing here?” I asked as I ran to him

“I don’t know Alex, one minute I was trying to get Ramses out of your room at the house in Cairo, and the next moment I was here” he seemed a bit winded as Tutankhamun reached us.

“Ron, it’s so nice to see you again, where is the rest of your family?” he asked as he got off his chariot and walked over

“I ran away your majesty” Ron replied as he bowed

“Now why in the name of Amun did you do that?”

“Well I miss Alexandria too much, but my parents and Abasi said that we couldn’t come till you summoned us, I got upset and ran away”

“I guess you can stay till your parents and Abasi comes, and besides I was about to send for them anyways”

“Really” Ron asked excitedly as he ran over and hugged Tutankhamun

“Now tell me Ron, would you like to have a chariot ride?” Tutankhamun asked

“I would love to”

“Then come, you may ride with me” he said as he led my brother to his chariot

“Thank you sir” Ron said as I mounted

“It’s my pleasure; now tell me, how fast would you like to go?”

“As fast as you can go”

“All right, Alexandria do you want to have a little race with your brother?”

“Sure” I laughed as I mounted my chariot “But make sure he’s strapped in okay, I don’t want him getting hurt”

“Don’t worry, I’m strapping him in now” he laughed. So I raced Ron all the way back to the palace and when we returned we got him to take a little bath before going any further. When we were all cleaned up, the three of us went to see Ankhesenamun “Ankhesenamun” Tutankhamun called out when we found her in the audience chamber; it seemed that didn’t see the priests in the room

“My lord Shh, there are priests around” Ankhesenamun said as she rushed over

“I know, but I wanted to let you know that Ron is here”

“Ron, it’s a pleasure to see you again” she said as she knelt down

“It’s a pleasure to see you as well my lady. Hey you’re pregnant” Ron said as he pointed at Ankhesenamun’s belly

“Yes I am”

“Congratulations”

“Thank you Ron” she smiled

“You’re welcome” he smiled in return. When it was finally time for dinner Ron sat next to me

“So tell me Ron, how is your family doing?” Ankhesenamun asked

“Very good my lady, they miss you all very much and hope to visit soon” he smiled. Once dinner was finished I led Ron to my chambers and when we arrived the twins were on the bed with Tutankhamun “I was wondering where they went” Ron said as he rushed over to the bed

“They’ve missed their uncle” Tutankhamun said leaning back on the bed

“I’m going to get ready for bed” I said as I went into the next room with my night gown.

Once Alexandria was out of the room Ron said “Tutankhamun can I ask you a question”

“Sure” I said as I stroked the Thutmose’s cheek

“What is it like to be married to my sister?”

“It’s rather wonderful being married to her. What is it like having her as a sister?”

“It’s rather wonderful having her as a sister” he mocked and I laughed. When Alexandria came back in and crawled next to me on the bed

“What are you two talking about?” she asked as she kissed my cheek

“You my love” I replied as I kissed her.

“Gross, your just like my parents” Ron groaned

“Sorry Ron” she laughed

“Can I please go to bed?” he yawned after a few minutes of silence

“Yes you can, you’ve had a long day” Alexandria said as she led her brother to a small bed that had been put next to hers

“Good night Ron” I heard her say

“Night Alex” Ron whispered in return. When Alexandria was back on the bed she looked down at the twins

“I believe that the twins have agreed with Ron” she said as she picked them up

“On what” I asked as I watched her put the twins in their bed,

“It’s time for bed and that it’s been a long day” she smiled as she got back on the bed and kissed me

“Good night my love” I said as we laid down and fell asleep in each other’s arms.
