Alexandria
A month and a half later I was sitting by one of the pools in the temple complex watching the twins squirm around in the grass, gurgling happily to themselves, when Tutankhamun came in and sat next to me âBeautiful, arenât they?â he asked, gazing down at his children
âYes they are, and so is Ankhesenamunâ I smiled.
âAlexandriaâ
âYes Tutankhamun?â
âDo you still love me?â he asked
âOf course I do, why do you ask?â
âI was just wondering
âDo you still love me?â I asked
âOf course I do, I love you as much as I love Ankhesenamun and the twinsâ
âGoodâ I smiled. Just then Ankhesenamun entered and sat down, and after a minute of silence she asked
âWell, weâve done everything that weâd hoped to do in the past few months, so the question is what now?â
âNot too sureâ Tutankhamun replied as we continued to watch the twins squirm and giggle in grass. Late that night, Thutmose, Tiye and I couldnât sleep. Iâd placed them on my pillow
âYou two have such a wonderful father and auntâ I sighed as I looked down at their squirming bodies, as they gurgled in response âWonder what itâll be like if I brought you two back to my own timeâ I smiled when they cooed âYou two donât understand a word that Iâm saying do you?â I asked, and my response was more cooing. I then heard the door to my room open and quickly whisper shut, when I looked over to see who it was, I found Tutankhamun standing by the door, âYes my love?â I asked as I turned onto my side
âJust wanted to see if you were asleepâ he replied as he crossed the room as I looked down at the twins, who were looking over at their father.
âThey couldnât sleep eitherâ I said
âI sort of guessed when I heard you talking to themâ he said as he crawled onto the bed and lied next to me and the babies
âI guess that you couldnât sleep either my love?â
âNopeâ he sighed as he moved a lock of hair from my face
âIâm guessing that weâll be traveling back to Thebes tomorrow?â I asked as I sat up and tried to get the twins to go to sleep
âYepâ he said once the twins finally asleep, and Iâd set them in their bed, and Iâd crawled back into bed â You should get some sleepâ Tutankhamun said as he kissed my neck
âI know, you should tooâ I replied as I put my head onto my pillow
âGood nightâ he chuckled
âGood nightâ I smiled as we fell asleep together. Early the next the morning I was gently shaken awake by Ankhesenamun âIs it time to go?â I asked as I stretched
âYepâ she replied as I got up and got dressed.
Later on that morning, when we were finally ready to depart, Ankhesenamun offered to watch over the twins in the chariot, so Tutankhamun and I rode on the horses all the way back to Thebes, luckily the ride only took half the day. When we arrived we rested for the rest of the day. But early the next morning Tutankhamun was busy again, while Ankhesenamun and I found ourselves bored out of our minds once more.
âMaybe we should start attending Tutankhamunâs meetings with himâ Ankhesenamun suggested one afternoon,
âAnything better than thisâ I sighed. So when the next morning came, we decided to ask Tutankhamun at breakfast âMy lordâ I said as I turned to him
âYes my lady?â he asked in return
âAnkhesenamun and I were wondering if we could start attending your meetings with you.â
âNow why in the name of Amun do you two want to do that?â he asked surprised
âWell you see my lord; weâre very bored and are seeking something to doâ
âAs you wish, but Iâll only fully agree to this if you two can last through the dayâ he laughed.
Ankhesenamun
When it was finally time for lunch Alexandria and I slumped into our seats âGods, what have we gotten ourselves into?â I sighed
âI have no ideaâ she sighed in return as Tutankhamun strode in
âAnd how are my lovely ladies doing?â he asked as he sat in between us
âIt seems like youâve changed up the court my lordâ I replied as I sat up straighter
âWhat do you mean?â he laughed
âWell itâs very different from when we were childrenâ
âMy lady if I may say so, the reason itâs so different and so changed from the time of your father is because there is a weak little child on the throneâ Aye said as he rose from his seat near the wall of the dining hall, and Tutankhamun glared at him. Just then Alexandria rose,
âNo Aye, our Pharaoh isnât a weak child, he is a man, no he is more than a mere man, he is a God, and youâre the weak childâ she yelled
âWell maybe our âPharaohâ had better keep better control of his wifeâ
âNo Aye, sheâs correct, and sheâs free to do as she wishesâ Tutankhamun yelled in return
âOh, then what about Ankhesenamun then, as I hear she hasnât bore you any sons and that sheâs holding another manâs childâ
âNo Aye, she isnât holding another manâs child, she is holding mineâ There were a few gasps, followed by loud cheering throughout the hall. I saw Ayeâs turn bright red, clearly mad that his plan had backfired. âAye please sit back downâ Tutankhamun commanded over the noise and the old man obeyed. When we left the room I let out a sigh
âAye is such a, aâ
âA big jerkâ Alexandria continued when I stopped
âAgreedâ Tutankhamun sighed, but kept walking towards a small garden
âWhatâs wrong with our dearest lover?â Alexandria asked as we took his hands in ours
âIs it what Aye said?â I asked
âYesâ
âListen, I donât want you to listen to anyone who calls you a child when you are very much a strong a noble Godâ Alexandria said as we kissed his cheeks
âDo you two really think so?â he asked
âOf course we doâ I said as we hugged him. An hour later Alexandria and I were sunbathing by a pond with the twins napping with us while Tutankhamun was dealing with some problems that a few priests had
âPoor Tutankhamun I know how much he hates people calling him what heâs notâ I sighed
âYeah, I wish everyone else would stop seeing him as a child, and see him as the man that heâs becomeâ
âAgreedâ I sighed again, just then Aye walked in and we sat up and we sat up and quickly handed the twins to their wet-nurse and faced our greatest enemy
âWhat do you want Aye?â Alexandria demanded
âI just thought that I would teach you two a lesson on talking out of turnâ he replied as he stepped closer
âAye stop or else weâll call the guardsâ I yelled only to feel his rough hand slap me against my cheek
âGuardsâ I heard Alexandria scream and saw the old man slap her on the cheek
âYou foolish woman, when will you learn to shut your mouth?â I saw Ramose run out with a team of guards, who arrested Aye. Then everything went black. When I woke, I found Tutankhamun leaning over me and Alexandria sleeping next to me
âSheâs been out for a few hoursâ Tutankhamun said as he held my hand, I saw tear streaks running down his cheeks
âHave you been crying?â I asked as I rubbed his face
âI, I thought that Iâd lost you two and the twins
âWhere are the babiesâ I gasped, suddenly panicked
âThey are well and luckily still asleepâ he said as he put his head next to mine.
âHow have you and Alexandria been?â I wondered
âGoodâ
âAre you two planning on having anymore children?â
âI donât know, itâs up to herâ
âWhy is it that you always leave stuff like that up to Alexandria and I?â I asked, making him blush
âI donât knowâ he replied as I felt Alexandria shift next to me
âWhat did you do with Aye?â
âHad him whippedâ
âGoodâ I sighed as he smiled again. I then heard a little whimper come from Tiye
âIâll get herâ Tutankhamun said as he got up and retrieved the baby        âShe looks a lot like youâ Tutankhamun smiled
âOh stop, you that she looks more like Alexandriaâ I said
âThereâs some of you in here tooâ he said as he passed the baby over to me.
Tutankhamun
When Alexandria finally woke up I carried outside to be with Ankhesenamun and the twins in the little garden theyâd made for me âHow have you been?â she asked
âGood, howâd you sleep?â
âGood, how are Ankhesenamun and the twins?â
âTheyâre doing very goodâ I replied, and she kissed me, making me stop for a second to kiss her back, then continued walking. When Iâd set down on the bench that Ankhesenamun was sitting on, she picked up the twins and hugged them, and kissed their little heads, and in response they giggled. I smiled as I watched the two most beautiful women play with our children.
âTheyâll be so beautiful when theyâre fully grownâ Ankhesenamun sighed as she hugged Tiye
âYes they will be and our husband will always be wonderfulâ Alexandria said as she took my hand and put it against her warm cheek
âI would have to agree, and I have the most wonderful family in all of Egyptâ I sighed, feeling happy to be with them. When it was time for dinner we went to the dining hall. When weâd settled into our seats and the performers had started performing, and dinner had been served, the three of us got into a deep conversation about politics
âYes Ankhesenamun, but you see I think that it would be good if we,â I stopped and looked over at Alexandria and asked âAre you all right my lady?â
âYes my lord, Iâm just fineâ she smiled
âThinking about Aye again?â
âYeahâ
âWhat else are you thinking about?â Ankhesenamun asked
âI think that we should travel around Egyptâ
âI think thatâs a wonderful ideaâ I smiled at her.
âWhen should we set off?â Ankhesenamun asked when we were in my office
âWell considering how long it will take to get the supplies ready, I think in a few weeksâ I replied as I started getting the papers ready.
Alexandria
A few weeks later we were aboard one of the two ships that we were bringing on our travel through Egypt, it was called âThe Beloved of Amunâ. Tutankhamun said that his grandfather Amunhotep III had made it when heâd been Pharaoh and had sailed through Egypt several times in his life. A couple of months later, after visiting several towns and cities in Egypt, including Memphis, Akhmim, Akhetaten, Giza, and many others, we returned to Thebes Exhausted. When Iâd put my head on my pillow I dreamed of my family. The next morning I told Ankhesenamun and Tutankhamun of my dream.
âMaybe once Abasi returns, we can get him to bring your family hereâ Tutankhamun said
âI think thatâll be a wonderful ideaâ I smiled. A few weeks later Tutankhamun and I were racing across the desert, and I was in the lead. I loved feeling the wind in my face as I raced along. I closed my eyes for a second, and when I reopened them I saw a little figure walking in my path, so I pulled on the reins. The chariot stopped a few feet from the figure and I saw that it was Ron
âRon, what are you doing here?â I asked as I ran to him
âI donât know Alex, one minute I was trying to get Ramses out of your room at the house in Cairo, and the next moment I was hereâ he seemed a bit winded as Tutankhamun reached us.
âRon, itâs so nice to see you again, where is the rest of your family?â he asked as he got off his chariot and walked over
âI ran away your majestyâ Ron replied as he bowed
âNow why in the name of Amun did you do that?â
âWell I miss Alexandria too much, but my parents and Abasi said that we couldnât come till you summoned us, I got upset and ran awayâ
âI guess you can stay till your parents and Abasi comes, and besides I was about to send for them anywaysâ
âReallyâ Ron asked excitedly as he ran over and hugged Tutankhamun
âNow tell me Ron, would you like to have a chariot ride?â Tutankhamun asked
âI would love toâ
âThen come, you may ride with meâ he said as he led my brother to his chariot
âThank you sirâ Ron said as I mounted
âItâs my pleasure; now tell me, how fast would you like to go?â
âAs fast as you can goâ
âAll right, Alexandria do you want to have a little race with your brother?â
âSureâ I laughed as I mounted my chariot âBut make sure heâs strapped in okay, I donât want him getting hurtâ
âDonât worry, Iâm strapping him in nowâ he laughed. So I raced Ron all the way back to the palace and when we returned we got him to take a little bath before going any further. When we were all cleaned up, the three of us went to see Ankhesenamun âAnkhesenamunâ Tutankhamun called out when we found her in the audience chamber; it seemed that didnât see the priests in the room
âMy lord Shh, there are priests aroundâ Ankhesenamun said as she rushed over
âI know, but I wanted to let you know that Ron is hereâ
âRon, itâs a pleasure to see you againâ she said as she knelt down
âItâs a pleasure to see you as well my lady. Hey youâre pregnantâ Ron said as he pointed at Ankhesenamunâs belly
âYes I amâ
âCongratulationsâ
âThank you Ronâ she smiled
âYouâre welcomeâ he smiled in return. When it was finally time for dinner Ron sat next to me
âSo tell me Ron, how is your family doing?â Ankhesenamun asked
âVery good my lady, they miss you all very much and hope to visit soonâ he smiled. Once dinner was finished I led Ron to my chambers and when we arrived the twins were on the bed with Tutankhamun âI was wondering where they wentâ Ron said as he rushed over to the bed
âTheyâve missed their uncleâ Tutankhamun said leaning back on the bed
âIâm going to get ready for bedâ I said as I went into the next room with my night gown.
Tutankhamun
Once Alexandria was out of the room Ron said âTutankhamun can I ask you a questionâ
âSureâ I said as I stroked the Thutmoseâs cheek
âWhat is it like to be married to my sister?â
âItâs rather wonderful being married to her. What is it like having her as a sister?â
âItâs rather wonderful having her as a sisterâ he mocked and I laughed. When Alexandria came back in and crawled next to me on the bed
âWhat are you two talking about?â she asked as she kissed my cheek
âYou my loveâ I replied as I kissed her.
âGross, your just like my parentsâ Ron groaned
âSorry Ronâ she laughed
âCan I please go to bed?â he yawned after a few minutes of silence
âYes you can, youâve had a long dayâ Alexandria said as she led her brother to a small bed that had been put next to hers
âGood night Ronâ I heard her say
âNight Alexâ Ron whispered in return. When Alexandria was back on the bed she looked down at the twins
âI believe that the twins have agreed with Ronâ she said as she picked them up
âOn whatâ I asked as I watched her put the twins in their bed,
âItâs time for bed and that itâs been a long dayâ she smiled as she got back on the bed and kissed me
âGood night my loveâ I said as we laid down and fell asleep in each otherâs arms.
