Chapter 14: A Journey to the Future Thebes, Egypt 1323 BC

Tutankhamun

3 weeks later Ankhesenamun and I were walking from a meeting with Nakhtim telling him of the baby “When do you plan to go on your hunt?”she asked

“After the baby is born”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, I think that it will somehow help with the baby”

“Oh my dearest baby brother”

“I’m not a baby anymore” I grunted and she smiled

“I know we both left our childhoods ten years ago” she said. We walked in silence for a little while till Ankhesenamun said “I’m glad that you and Alexandria are together”

“Are you now, I thought that would’ve been jealous of Alexandria”

“Of course not, she’s my best friend, and besides, she’s helped with my last 2 births, and I trust her with this one”

“Well, I’m glad that we both trust her” I smiled as we entered the dining hall for a quick snack. A while later a messenger came in “Yes?” I asked as I looked up from the honey cake that I was munching on

“Abasi seeks an audience with you my lord”

“Where does he want to speak with me?”

“Right here and now”

“Thank you, you can let Abasi in” I replied as I stood and the messenger bowed. When Abasi entered he bowed

“My lord, I must tell you something” he said

“Let me guess, another prophecy” I asked

“Yes, it’s for your hunt my lord” I thought back to when Alexandria had told me about my death on the hunt, I guess that this what Abasi going to tell me

“Let me guess I’m going to die?” I asked nervously

“Yes my lord, how’d you find out? Wait, when Alexandria told you that when you were 19 you were going to die, did she say how?”

“Yes, she said that I was going to die in a chariot accident” I said as I sat down, suddenly feeling weak.

“Abasi, look at what you’ve done to my brother” Ankhesenamun said as she took my hand in hers

“Don’t worry my lady; I’m positive that Alexandria will save him”

“How do you know that?” I asked

“Well, she will try to prevent you from going” Abasi replied.

Tutankhamun

Three months later I was studying one of the various scrolls that Tutankhamun’s old teacher had given me. It was a story about Hatshepsut and how she started trading with other countries by using boats for the first time, when I heard footsteps trying to be silent on the tile floor; I smiled to myself “You know it’s harder to sneak up on someone with these floors then in the gardens” I called out, not looking up when I heard a groan, then a small curse, it was Tutankhamun. “Now why in the name of Amun are you trying to sneak up on me?” I asked as I finally looked up and watched as he walked over and sat next to me underneath the palm tree that I was sitting under

“Just wanted to sit with you”

“Anything else my love” I asked

“Well I also wanted to do this” Tutankhamun said as he leaned over and kissed me

“You’re the sweetest man that I’ve ever met” I sighed when he released me, and he smiled as he kissed me again, but more passionately and making me groan with pleasure.

“Excuse me” Tutankhamun and I immediately stopped kissing and looked up and saw my dad looming over us “You know, if you were a boy in our time, I would be furious for kissing my daughter like that while she was trying to study”

“I’m sorry sir” Tutankhamun blushed and my dad laughed

“No need to be, you are Pharaoh and you can do what you wish. I’m just a little surprised of how much you’re acting like a teenager from my time” he chuckled as Tutankhamun looked up at him blankly

“Sir, did Alexandria ever have a lover before she came here?” he asked

“No, you are the first man that’s been this close to her; she’s had boys that were friends, but nothing more”

“Well maybe because they were afraid that you would interrupt them while they were kissing me” I said as I looked down at my papyrus

“Oh so now I’m an interruption?” my dad teased and I blushed

“Well I have to check on your mother, I think she needed” my dad said as he finally left and I sighed as I started studying again.

“What was that for?” Tutankhamun asked as he too looked down at the papyrus

“It’s nothing” I said as I read on

“Alexandria” he said sternly

“Yes?” I asked as I looked up at him

“You know how much I hate it when you lie”

“And you know that I rarely lie to you” I smiled at him

“Alexandria, please tell me what’s on your mind”

“Okay, well a few months ago Abasi told me what he’d told you about your hunting trip”

“I see, why can’t you just bring Ankhesenamun, the children and I to the future to your time with you?”

“You know I can’t”

“And why is that?”

“Because you might get hurt in my time, and your mind would become confused with how different everything is, and I want your mind to remain as it is” he stared at me for a few minutes and I only looked away when I heard the twins start crying. When I sat back down again I had the twins in my arms

“They’re getting big” Tutankhamun said as he took Thutmose in his arms

“Yes they are”

“I’m sure they would love it if their father watched them grow to become fine young adults” I looked away from his dark gaze and didn’t reply “Alexandria, please take us to your time, I’m sure that Ankhesenamun and I can deal with whatever changes that lie there, it happened when our father died” he said as I finally looked up

“But”

“Please not buts, and besides, I want to see your home” he said as he leaned over and kissed me

“Maybe just for a little while, it won’t be that long” I sighed when he released me

“Thank you my love” he whispered and kissed me again.

Ankhesenamun

I was sitting on a lawn chair by my favorite pool when Tutankhamun and Alexandria told me about the journey to the future “Are you sure this will work, especially with the baby?” I asked

“We’ll have to talk about that with Abasi, but I think that it might work” Alexandria replied as we watched the twins crawl around on the ground gurgling to each other

“Well I think that it’s a good idea” I said as I leaned back and putting my hand on my slightly raised stomach

“When will we leave?” Tutankhamun asked

“As soon as we talk with to Abasi and my parents”

“Talk to us about what?” Alexandria’s father asked as he walked in with her mother and Abasi following right behind

“We were thinking that we could bring Tutankhamun, Ankhesenamun and the twins to the present time for a visit” Alexandria replied

“Have you three talked about this?’ Alexandria’s father asked

“Yes we have” Tutankhamun replied.

“And we really want to see your time, and see how everything’s changed” I said happily

“I think that it’s a good idea that they see the future” Alexandria’s mother said

“Okay then, we leave in the morning” Abasi said.

Tutankhamun

The following morning Alexandria, Ankhesenamun, the twins and I silently got up, got ready and had breakfast before dawn broke. When we reached Abasi’s chambers we saw that Alexandria’s family and Abasi were also ready “You guys ready?” he whispered

“Yes we are” I whispered back

“All right everyone, here’s what we need to do, and don’t worry my lord I left a note saying that we went to the Step Pyramid and to have no one follow us. So everyone, link hands and clear your minds and no matter what, don’t let go” Abasi whispered loudly. A few minutes passed, and I saw the sun beginning to rise, so I fully cleared my mind of all thoughts, and almost immediately it went pitch black, and I felt a gust of wind, then it felt like I was falling. When it felt like I was on solid ground, there was a bright flash “We’re almost there” Abasi said as another bright flash came and went before my eyes. When everything cleared we were in a very large room

“Well I never thought that I'd see this place again” Alexandria sighed as she sat on a large pillow

“What is this place?” I asked as I curiously walked around

“This is a modern day house” Abasi said. I looked over and saw that he looked different from earlier, he seemed paler, and his hair and eyes were their normal shades, but his hair was shorter.

“Tutankhamun come over here” Ankhesenamun called from where she and Alexandria sat on the giant pillows

“Yeah” I asked as I walked over

“Watch” she giggled, she was holding a little black thing covered in little raised bumps

“What's that?” I asked

“It's called a remote control” Alexandria replied

“What does it do?”

“Watch” I watched as Ankhesenamun pressed one of the little raised bumps on the 'remote control' and there was a loud noise and moving pictures on a large window thing a little ways from the giant pillows.

“What is that thing?” I called over the noise and plugging my ears from the noise

“It's called a television” Alexandria laughed as Ankhesenamun handed over the remote control, and she turned it off “Want a tour of the house/' she asked as she rose

“We'd love one” Ankhesenamun and I said in unison. So she gave us a quick tour of the house, and when we were done, Alexandria turned to us

“Do you two want to see the backyard?” she asked

“Sure” I smiled. Just as we exited the guest room, that would be turned into the nursery room, there was a loud ringing noise that echoed throughout the house

“What in the name of Amun was that?” I asked as Ankhesenamun and I covered our ears

“That's the doorbell”

“The what?”

“It's how we know that someone's at the door” Alexandria smiled as we walked back downstairs.

Ankhesenamun

“Stay here” Alexandria said as she put Tutankhamun and I on the large pillows, and we watched as she walked to the door and opened it, and in walked a tall, lean young man, probably around Alexandria's age, and he looked a lot like her,

“Alex, how are you doing?” the man asked as he lifted Alexandria

“Wonderful Zack, how are you doing?” she asked as she hugged him, I looked over at Tutankhamun and saw a hint of jealousy in his eyes

“Good, I heard that you got your time traveling gift in” Zack said

“Yes I did, hey I want to introduce you to a few” Alexandria said as she pulled the strange man over to the large pillows “Zack, this is Queen Ankhesenamun and Pharaoh Tutankhamun”

“My lord and lady, it's a pleasure to meet you both” he bowed

“Ankhesenamun, Tutankhamun, this is my cousin Zack” Alexandria said

“It's a pleasure to meet you as well” Tutankhamun muttered

“Yes it's very wonderful to finally meet Alexandria's cousin”

“Now Zack, I must introduce you to the twins” Alexandria said as she rushed to where the twins were sitting. A few hours later Alexandria and Zack were teaching Tutankhamun how to play a new game called 'baseball'

“So all I have to do is hit the ball with this bat?” Tutankhamun asked Alexandria, who laughed

“Yes, and we'll see how far you hit it” she smiled as she taught him where, and how to stand.
