Chapter 36: Q Toey 🩵🩵

Q is known as strict TL in the company and for his perfectionism.

Toey joined the company as an intern. Fortunately, he comes under the Q team.

Toey is a bright and cheerful kid who always makes place so fun. Despite Q’s strict nature, Toey finds him fascinating rather than intimidating. When Toey starts his internship,  Q strictness makes it hard for him to perform, but he finds the way to overcome it.

Q constantly finds some mistakes in Toey work. Instead of discouraging Toey, work even hard to finish it all in the time.

Then later, Toey starts understanding Q. Even tho Q strict nature and perfection,  he helps the fellow team members stay with them in overtime work to help the members who are struggling. Make sure the team works in a comfort zone.

His admiration turns into a crush. He starts looking forward to work, finding excuses to interact with Q, bringing him coffee (which Q initially refuses but later drinks secretly). So one time, Q casually fixed the Toey tie, which made his heart beat so fast.

Here, Q notices Toey’s attention and even catches him staring sometimes but brushes it off.

He initially finds Toey’s presence annoying but then realizes he has become accustomed to it—he expects Toey’s enthusiasm, his bright greetings, his small gestures.

He starts being a little softer without realizing it. When Toey makes a mistake, he explains instead of just pointing it out. When Toey is feeling down, Q surprisingly encourages him (in his blunt way).

He thought Toey clumsiness and his playful behavior may change the team, and he won't last till end, but he noticed Toey hardworking personality.  And Toey clumsy behavior starts breaking his wall, which he builds.

And the breaking point for Q.

A fellow intern confesses to Toey, making him flustered. Q overhears it and, for the first time, feels a sharp pang of irritation.

He doesn’t understand why he’s annoyed seeing Toey with someone else.

Q starts being more observant of Toey—realizing he misses him on the days he’s not around, that his laughter makes the office feel warmer, and that he enjoys Toey’s attention more than he should.

It finally clicks when Toey, feeling discouraged, says he might not stay after the internship.

Q feels a sense of loss, and that’s when he knows—he doesn’t want Toey to leave.

After a long internal battle, Q finally acknowledges his feelings and takes action in his own awkward way.

He casually tells Toey, “You should stay after your internship,” but his tone is different this time—softer, almost hesitant.

Toey teases, “Why? You’ll miss me?” expecting Q to deny it.

But Q simply says, “Yes.”

Toey is caught off guard, but then he smiles—because he knows exactly what that means.

They are just new to these feelings, so they let the time to decide everything.

Q still doesn't know how to make a move, and Toey is too shy to make a move. Despite these, they made their own way to make things work out.

Dates start casually—dinner after work, late-night calls where Q listens to Toey ramble about random things, and small gestures like Q fixing Toey’s hair without thinking.

As Toey grows more comfortable, he drops his shy, careful attitude and starts acting like his natural self again—playful, cheeky, and expressive.

He starts teasing Q more, making fun of his serious expressions, and even mocking his monotone way of speaking.

One evening, Toey playfully calls Q “boss” in a flirty tone, and Q actually glares at him (but there’s a slight smirk).

Q doesn’t stop him—he enjoys this side of Toey and realizes he actually likes seeing him happy and unfiltered.

Q also lets his own walls crumble bit by bit—allowing himself to smile more, ruffle Toey’s hair, and even hold his hand casually.

One weekend, Q surprises Toey by taking him to an amusement park.

Toey is shocked because he never imagined Q, the serious, workaholic leader, would suggest something so fun and childish.

Turns out, Q planned this on purpose—he noticed Toey’s stress from work and wanted to cheer him up.

The moment they enter, Toey is a literal ball of energy, dragging Q to different rides.

Q doesn’t protest. he just quietly watches Toey light up with excitement.

Toey forces Q to go on the scariest rollercoaster, expecting him to be unfazed—but to his shock, Q actually gets dizzy afterward.

Toey, being the mischievous one, laughs at him for the first time, teasing him nonstop. " Ohh, phi Q is scared of something,"

Q just sighs, but there’s no real annoyance—just quiet amusement at how happy Toey looks.

When they try carnival games, Q wins every game effortlessly, getting Toey a huge plushie. " You want them,"

Toey blushes, trying to brush it off, but he secretly hugs the plushie tightly, making Q smirk.

At night, they sit by the lake, watching the fireworks.

Toey, still hyped from the day, is rambling about everything they did, while Q just listens.

Then suddenly, Toey asks, “Did you have fun?”

Q doesn’t answer immediately. Instead, he turns to Toey and, for the first time, admits something deeply personal.

“I didn’t care about amusement parks before… but today, I had fun. Because you were there.”

Toey freezes—this is the first time Q has ever said something so direct and sincere.

And before he could even process it, he accidentally turned too fast, and their faces nearly collided—lips barely brushing.

Both of them stilled.

Toey’s heart was pounding, and Q? Q was just calmly staring at him, unreadable as always.

Then, before Toey could stammer an apology, Q leaned in and kissed him—properly this time.

It was soft, brief, but intentional.

When Q pulled back, he smirked at Toey’s stunned, blushing face and said, “Now it’s official.”

Toey’s brain short-circuited. His first response? Punch Q’s arm lightly and hide his face.

Q just chuckled.

Flustered, Toey tries to joke it off, but Q just smirks and quietly holds his hand, interlocking their fingers.

Toey doesn’t pull away. Instead, he leans on Q’s shoulder, letting the moment sink in.

After that night, things changed.

Toey stopped holding back—he was no longer awkward or shy. He openly clung to Q now, teasing him like before, except now it was laced with affection.

And Q? Q didn’t stop him anymore.

Toey would poke Q’s cheek randomly at work, and Q would just raise an eyebrow.

Q would fix Toey’s tie in the mornings, fingers lingering just a little longer.

When they were alone, Toey would peck Q’s cheek before walking away, smirking.

One day, Q grabbed Toey’s wrist before he could escape and pulled him in for a slow, teasing kiss instead.

Toey died of embarrassment.

“You—! You can’t just do that—”

Q smirked, looking way too satisfied. “You started it.”

Toey swore revenge.

One night, after a long day, Toey fell asleep on Q’s couch while they watched a movie.

Q, thinking Toey was fully asleep, softly brushed his fingers through his hair and whispered, “You’re really annoying sometimes… but I love you.”

Toey was awake.

His heart pounded, but he kept his eyes closed, pretending to sleep, because he wanted to hear Q say it naturally again.

The next morning, he hugged Q out of nowhere, grinning.

Q squinted at him, confused. “What’s with you?”

Toey shrugged. “Nothing. Just wanted to annoy you.”

Q rolled his eyes. But he already knew.

And when he quietly laced their fingers together, Toey squeezed his hand back, smiling.

Because this? This felt right.

Little by little, they had become something real.
