Chapter 106 Thrilled I don’t think I ever felt that kind of shock that I felt then. I just looked at her, and I couldn’t say a word. She laughed nervously.

“Yeah. It’s like a long and unbelievable soap opera, I know, but this is the truth. He also proved that with a DNA test. He said he was looking for me since my mother left him, and that was why he wanted to get me so badly.”

Actually, what she said made a few things clear. That is why they didn’t shoot when they could take her, therefore they never hurt her. If they wanted to take revenge on me, a sniper could kill her when I was out with her somewhere. And therefore they told me she was fine instead of just shooting a bullet in me.

“Does he know I am with you?”

I nodded.

“Yes.”

I looked away. Probably she misunderstood my expression as she lowered her head.

“Don’t you need me anymore if I’m a D’angeli?”

I frowned first, and I couldn’t answer her in words. I held her in my embrace and I kissed her. She didn’t refuse me. She wrapped her arms around me like she used to do, and she kissed me back.

We didn’t move, just kept each other in that kiss. To keep her in my arms felt like I came back into life.

But unfortunately we couldn’t stay like that forever, so I pushed her away, but I still kept her close. We just looked into each other’s eyes for a while, then a question appeared in my mind, which made me frown.

“How come Riccardo let you be with me, then?”

She smiled and shrugged.

“He said even if he doesn’t like you, he knows you never hurt me, and he appreciates you tried to get me back so much, even if you know they could easily kill you. So he said if you are who makes me happy, then he wouldn’t hold me back to be with you, if that is what I really want.”

“And is that what you really want? Do you still love me?”

She looked at me deep in the eye, which scared me, but she smiled while she looked at the ground, then back at me.

“Yes. I still love you, Gideon.”

I pulled her back into a hug and kissed her forehead. It felt amazing to know she was next to me again. She looked up at me after a little while.

“I’m sorry, Gideon, but I have to go back now.”

I nodded. I understood. Even if I never wanted to let her go again, I had to be satisfied by knowing she loved me and she wanted to be with me, too.

“I have to get up early tomorrow.” She explained it further, but I smiled at her.

“I know, Alice, just promise me I’ll see you again soon.”

She looked at me with a frown.

“Now that you got what you want, you don’t even take me out on a date?”

I laughed.

“Of course I’ll take you out. I can’t wait for it.”

She looked at me, satisfied. I just held her waist, smiling widely, and we walked back both happily.

Chapter 106 Thrilled We reached her car too soon. We held and kissed each other for a long time before I helped her get into her car.

She pulled her window down just before she left and looked at me.

“Oh, and just to let you know we met today, because I’m jealous. I don’t want to see Amber touching you again. And avoid arguing with me because of that. I’m like this, accept it.”

I laughed out loud.

“Someone became bossy.” I bent down and gave her a light kiss on her lips.

She smiled at me and drove away. I stood there for a little while and couldn’t stop smiling. I loved to see her confidently being herself in front of me.

I walked back to my car, and I sat in it. The world became a happy place for me again. I decided I wouldn’t tell this to my family, not yet at least. I didn’t think they could accept that I was with Alice who became the daughter of the worst enemy of my family, and also it seemed like my father had other plans with me. No, I thought. I’ll fight against it till I’m alive.

My other problem was that I had to win Riccardo’s sympathy. I never thought I would say something like this in my life, though. I could see it would mean a lot to Alice. She changed, and she looked happy. And the reason for that was because she had a family who accepted, supported and loved her. I wanted to do everything to fit into this environment.

I drove to the club, and even if I didn’t want to see that woman, I couldn’t hide my happiness. When I walked into my office, I also had a surprise. My dad and Seth were also there. Seth looked at me indifferently without greeting me. My father stopped talking to Amber, and they both looked at me.

My dad smiled while he motioned for me to go closer.

“Gideon, hear this. Amber had a thought about making some changes in the club, and I want you to listen to her because her idea is brilliant.”

I frowned. Actually, I didn’t even understand why she needed to be here every night, and now she wants to change my club?

“Amber, I don’t want to change anything. This is my place, and I like it as it is.” I regretted instantly I couldn’t keep my mouth closed, as my father looked at me suddenly and Seth’s gaze could kill me.

“Gideon, just listen to me. I think this way you could improve your profit, and it wouldn’t cost too much on you.”

I sighed. What I wanted was to get rid of her as fast as I could. I thought about what Alice told me, and I didn’t like that my family encouraged this shit.
