"I can't believe you made me eat that." I whined, before grabbing my water and skulling half of it.
Jaxon let out a light chuckle as he shook his head, "It's not that bad."
"Not for me." I said as I shook my head in disgust.
"More corn dogs for me then." He said before taking another bite. I bit on my lip to prevent the smile as I watched the way he ate at both his corn dog and while holding onto my one.
"What?" He asked, mouth full of food.
I let out a chuckle, shaking my head. I got up to plant a quick kiss on his cheek before getting up to go to the food truck, "I'm gonna go get some fries."
He quickly grabbed my hand to sit me down, "No, I'm going to go get you fries."
Rolling my eyes I let out a laugh as he replicated my actions, planting a kiss on my cheek before getting up to go to the food truck that was only a few feet away from where we sat.
This was the kind of date I appreciated, even though it was busy it still felt like it was just him and I around. After the "fluffy room" we both had gone back to the locker to get changed, I was thanking the Lord when they handed us a towel each, because I was freaking out trying to understand how on Earth I was going to put my clothes back on. Once we were dressed Jaxon led us both towards the food trucks which I was grateful for because I had worked up an appetite.
"Here you go, ma lady." He said as he placed two baskets of fries and a hot dog in front of me.
"If you tell me you don't eat hotdogs, then I'm sorry but this isn't going to work." He added.
I let out a laugh as I playfully slapped his arm, "I love hotdogs, actually."
He leaned forward across the table in between us until his lips were merely a few inches away, "Match made in heaven." He whispered.
I bit onto my lower lip as I smiled before leaning forward to give him a soft kiss on his lips, "Thank you for the food." I whispered back. He winked at me before sitting back in his seat, resuming his consumption of the corn dogs.
"So." Jaxon stated as he looked into my eyes.
There was something about the way he said it, it's like he knew a secret of mine and was waiting for me to say something. Just as he raised his eyebrow playfully at me, it all clicked in. Making me groan out loud.
"I know. I know. I should have had someone with me. I just thought that if I was in a public place, he wouldn't try anything." I said as I let out a sigh.
He leaned forward across the table to hold onto my hands before sighing, "I understand you want to see the good in him. You saw the good in me and I appreciate it but. Avery. Two different kinds of people. People like Noah, who need medical help don't change on their own."
"I know that now." I whispered.
He got up from his seat to come and sit next to me, wrapping an arm around my waist to pull me close, "Don't ever go by yourself. Not after everything I've told you. I can't bare to think about how he could hurt you if we aren't there."
I looked up into his eyes before smiling sincerely at him, "I promise. I've learnt my lesson."
He smiled at me before kissing my temple, with that said we both continued to eat our food. After we finished eating Jaxon was adamant that he wanted to win a large plush toy for me, so we ended up at the hoops game.
"Which one do you want?" He asked me, smirking.
I let out a laugh as I shook my head, "I want the big emoji with the heart eyes."
"Of course. Choose the biggest toy here." He mumbled before getting into position.
"How do I win that?" He asked as he pointed to the emoji.
"You need to get over thirty hits in less than a minute."Â The guy responded as he placed five basketballs in front of Jaxon.
I honestly had no idea if that was possible or not, these weren't games I've ever played, but it didn't seem to faze Jaxon. Jaxon turned and smirked at me, "Watch and learn, baby."
Rolling my eyes at his comment and his laugh, I came closer to stand next to him as he got ready. As soon as the beep went off, he was scoring the ball in the net. Not a single shot was missed, it blew my mind that he could do that. I couldn't get one shot in even if my life depended on it. I jumped up and down in cheer as the score sat at twenty six with only five seconds left. The buzzer went off just after Jaxon scored the last net making him reach a score of thirty three. As soon as Jaxon turned around smiling at me, I laughed out loud as I wrapped my hands around his neck.
"Here you go." The guy said as he handed Jaxon this meter long emoji.
"Thanks, man." Jaxon responded before looking at me with a smile on his face.
"I believe this is for you." He added before handing it over to me, as his hand went around my waist, pulling me close.
I instantly grabbed it and tried to hug it close but I couldn't even wrap my arms around it. I held onto the strap at the back, before I leaned into him to kiss him softly on his lips "Thank you." I whispered.
"You're welcome." He whispered back.
After our win, we played a few more games before it was time to call it quits. It was a good twenty minute drive back to my house but I was completely beat. Who knew carnivals involved so much walking? It's been a long time since I've felt this carefree. I smiled at Jaxon when I felt him snake his fingers through mine, I held onto his hands which sat innocently on my lap.
"You okay over there?" He asked.
I blinked twice before turning my head to look at him, "Yeah."
"You sure? You just look deep in thought." He said softly.
"Yeah. My mind can sometimes be my own enemy." I whispered.
"Just remember, you deserve just as much happiness as you wish for your sister." He whispered, before lifting my hand up to give it a kiss. For the rest of the drive we dabbled in light conversation as he drove us home, which helped the travel time speed up because before we knew it, he was driving into my driveway.
As we got out of the car he had then opened the back door to retrieve my prize before he walked me to my door in blissful silence. I turned to smile at him when we reached it, "Thank you for tonight. I loved every minute of it."
He licked his lips slowly before taking a small step forward, placing the emoji on the floor, "Thank you for giving me a second chance."
My eyes alternated between his eyes and his lips as my heartbeat began to accelerate. I swallowed the lump in my throat before whispering, "I'm glad I did."
"I know last time you were confused about us but I would like to ask you a question." He asked as he took another step towards me.
"What is it?" I asked, my voice shaking from nerves.
His eyes alternated between my eyes and my lips before he whispered, "Would it be confusing if I kissed you?"
"No. We kissed before remember." I said as I took a step back, my back now flush against the wall.
"Different kind of kiss." He responded calmly, before his head began to descend closer towards my lips.
It was at this point that I realised what he meant. I could already feel that this kiss was going to be different because the environment around us was completely different, it was more sensual and private. There were no disco lights, no music or people. It was just him and I. He placed his left hand against the wall above my head as his right hand snuck around my waist, before gently pulling me closer to him.
He placed his lips softly upon mine, caressing them before deepening our contact. My hands had a mind of their own as they wrapped around his neck, slipping my fingers gently through his hair. His hand ran up to the middle of my back just as he slipped the tip of his tongue in our kiss. The passion within this kiss was enough to make me light headed, even make me moan which was muffled by his lips. Our heated kiss began to die down a bit as it slowed down, he gave me a few pecks on the lips before looking at me with a smirk.
"Sweet dreams" He whispered before kissing me on my cheek, only making me blush as a result.
"Same to you." I said as I smiled at him.
He let out a chuckle as he took a step back to walk to his car, "Don't worry, I will." He said.
I let out a laugh as I shook my head playfully at him. I had already opened the door but waited for him to get into his car. I watched on as he waved at me before ordering me to go inside so that he "knew I was safe". I chuckled lightly as I shook my head playfully at him before walking inside and closing the door behind me. I leant my back against the door as the back of my head rested against it.
One night was all it took to restore my faith and keep my insecurities at bay. I honestly didn't think I deserved to be loved because of all the baggage I had. When they gets drilled into your head enough times, you tend to believe it.
One night was all it took to remind me that there were pure guys out there, guys like Jaxon.
One night was all it took for my heart to flutter like a butterfly and make me fall in love with Jaxon all over again. With all of that floating in my mind I couldn't help but smile, the smile soon turned into a light chuckle. I shook my head at myself as I placed my palms over my face to cover the laughter. I haven't felt like this in such a long time and honestly, I was loving every moment of it.
With that thought in mind I went upstairs to my room, where I slept peacefully as I had sweet dreams. Sweet dreams about Jaxon and me and what we can be. I looked at my new emoji that now sat in the corner of the door and smiled to myself, I realised just how lucky I was to have someone like Jaxon.
